Only found time now to check out the forum and see what those who were lucky enough to be there have said!! OBVIOUSLY it was brilliant but oh so knackering!!! There were quite a few thousand there already by the time I came to squat at 5.30pm - ended up about level with the first sound tower - 150mts/yds from the stage maybe but with all the bods and arms etc I still only got a fuzzy focus on them in person - who cares its the music that counts!!! Last saw them in 1967 (together)in Manchester (UK) couldn`t see them this time there as I was somewhere else and couldn`t get back!! Art`s voice is totally unchanged - angelic and powerful!! Pauls words and tunes resonate with modern relevance and sheer beautiful poetry!!! Although being over excited and emotional throughout (and badly dehydrated - it must have have been 35degrees plus!!!)I tried to pick up any nuance in the lyrics or their inter-song spiel as to whether it really was the LAST EVER!!!??? Didn`t pick up anything!! a show of fondly emotionally clasped hands at the end was all about it! Did anyone else pick up different messages in the ether???? I can`t believe they didn`t finish in New York - the 600/000 would surely be beat hands down there!! and I would move mountains to be there!!
PS - did anyone else in Rome get involved in the shooting of "Il Lupo" in the morning??? I was walking down past Circus Maximus when all hell broke out about 100mts behind me - the cops gunned down Italy`s most wanted! scary!! I did a runner up the Palatine Hill and had another surreal incident when the guys did their sound check around lunch time and the glorious sounds ("of Silence" in particular) wafted up the hill and around the whole central Forum area - sheer magic - I lazed under a tree in Augustus`s palace ruins and thought I was in heaven!!

Hi sorry about delay! I`m at work so obviously can`t reply over weekend!it was only a fluke I logged in and checked things out anyhow - I`ve just had a nightmare dentist session and don`t feel like working at all!! My memory of 67 is not as clear as it should be! I know I was up in the Gods with a pack of mates and I vividly remember the "Graduate" routine and Bridge and Paul being "small" and Art having the most fantastic voice that filled the place - like I mentioned in my Rome musings when they were doing the sound check. S&G are with the Beach Boys and Simply Red my music "bag" always have been, but i`m not obsessive with it or into all the minuteia etc I just Love the music!! anyhow the e-mail address is [email protected]
