 | i thought that we might discuss all of pauls albums in chronological order. tell us your thoughts and insights on the lyrics. hopefully we can learn something new and gain more perspective on pauls music. |

 | Good thing about Wed 3AM is that on most tracks it is easily possible to "split" Paul and Arts voice. If you turn the balance on your HiFi / CD players etc you can listen to Paul only on the left and Art only if you turn the balance all the way to the right.
(Or the other way round, I forget which and I can´t be bothered to check because it doesn´t matter anyway and it´s too hot and sticky today and Marieno is right, the less serious ones are more fun)
By doing so you will be able to hear that Art sings a completely different song to Paul, and only when the harmonies are cleverly mixed do you get the "final" song. Clever, eh. Boring, but very clever. |

 | Boring ? The mix of the two harmonies is EXACTLY what I like on Simon and Garfunkel ! Otherwise you should be happy enough with Pauls solo music including the Songbook.
I Love the fact, that you hear Art on the left and Paul on the right speaker. For fun, I splitted The Sound of Silence into two songs. One has only the Art-part and the other one only the Paul-part. I burned these two tracks on a disc, and I listen to it in my car. It´s so fun to sing along with this song. When Art sings, I am Paul and sing his harmony...and after that, the other way around.
The same thing with Wednesday Morning 3AM....but it´s a lot more difficult to hear and "learn" the harmonies then it is on Sound of Silence or The Boxer etc. |

 | I meant boring because it is so technical and "ohne Klatsch"! |

 | Yes, I remember having doing that with that album when I was younger :-) And it´s even funnier with headphones but it´s normal Art doesn´t sing like Paul as they don´t have at all the same voice (like in a choir, you have at least 4 different levels of voice and so, 4 different ways to sing the song) |

 | i find wednesday morning, 3AM to be one of paul weaker albums. there are a lot of great parts to the album and it isnt my least favorite album from the S&G period in pauls career, but, i think, it shows their immaturity at this point. and rightfully so, but the songs dont speak to me as much as pauls later material.
out of all 5 S&G albums, Wednesday Morning, 3AM sits at number 4 with me (5 being worst and 1 being best). |

 | Number 3 for me. |

 | Well Jefferson, this is mostly because they didn´t have the luxury of being allowed to do what they wanted in the studio. From what I remeber this album was put together rather quickly and with not the same obvious care as with the later albums.
SOS was much the same, but better produced. The studio wanted to get on the tail of the success of the SOS single and so wanted to get the album out as quickly as possible, hence the reasone for all the ´Old´ songs fron Wednesday Morning 3am and Songbook albums.
I think it´s interesting to hear how Paul and Artie covered others peeps song including one of Bob Dylans.
If this albums number 4, whats your worst album at number 5?

 | It´s one of the best. Stripped down, earthy, guitarry(?) and clear. The title track is oh so sweet and the first track features paul giving us an ever so rare "throaty" vocal part. Number 2 for me... |

 | PSRT is number five. It´s too nice. Sort of album you can give your grandma for christmas. It´s just boring. (Don´t get me wrong, it´s still fantastic!!! But we are comparing the "big five", and amognst those it´s the dullest.) But I think Old Jefferson wants us to discuss chronologically and therefore we really need to take WM3AM apart and then move on to SOS. So.........are we finished with WM3AM or are there any further opinions (which we will all respect (out of Love to Paul and Artie!)!! |

 | micky,
yeah, i figured that they didnt have the luxuries that they have now back then and, basically, that is why the album still isnt that good. there are still some great things about it (Bleeker Street is one of my favorite songs of theirs), but in comparison with their other incredible 4 albums ... this would have to sit at 4 out of 5 for me.
i dont think i want to say what my least favorite album is just yet. i will wait until we get there. :^) |

 | Are you all americans? :-) i have noticed that americans LOVE the classifications: the record of the year, the band of the last 10 years, the best R&R song...every month, the Rolling Stone Mag releases a new classification...
In that case, i don´t think it is very important, each album is a level in the S&G´s creativity...without PSRT, no Bookends, without Bookends, no BOTW... |
