Dear all, I saw S&G in Köln on july 20th, it was one of the truelly unforgetable moments in my life (I?m 37). But I won?t go into how great they are, just want to share this thought I had: it?s generally considered that Garfunkel is the one who benefits most from the duo, Simon having his own outstanding solo-career (I saw him in 1986, 1991, 2000 and 2002). So I too thought that Simon could do well without Garfunkel. But I did have the feeling after that show that Simon to ?benefits? from the duo, it gave him another ?positionning?, another role for him. To me the duo works for both, it?s a 1+1=3.Wadayathink?

I have to agree with David here (I wish he was always that short :) ). What other role do you mean? I think he is on an S&G tour as much in charge as he is on a solo tour.

Thought I?d go from one extreme to another! :-)) Paul calls the shots. Read between the lines, look at the moves on stage. S&G are together again because Paul wishes them to be so, and will be together just as long as Paul wants. Art wóuld marry Paul if he could. I don?t think anybody is fooled by the "Poor Paul" thing anymore. Paul definately the boss here.

David, it??s not about being the boss, Paul is the leader of the duo, but after having seen him 4 times solo it just occured to me that singing together with Art gives him an other dimension puts him in another but equally intresting spotlight etc. anyway?hard to explain via a forum I guess.....

Well, you see a change in the way they are on stage, Paul is no longer the little guy with the guitar next to the easy talker Art. For example: in the past Art would sing ?Bridge? with only the piano and Paul off stage. Paul admitted that he was jealous when the biggest applaus was there for Art: ?He, that is my song!? Now they sing it together. Maybe this is a bit in your direction Wouter?
