 | So you see Pezza, if onlyt things where different, but theay aren´t. I don´t think that the big point is that people in this forum have the consensus that Paul should ditch Artie now, as you write, but that Paul has a clear opinion about that point. |

 | Free Paul Simon!!! and Edie Brickell is Old enough to do her own music...she clearly doesn´t want Paul involved in it...and she´s right...she doesn´t want to be only "the wife"... |

 | Well, Micky is right. The great Edie Brickel album ?Picture Perfect Morning? was produced by Paul and, there he is again, Roy Halee.
By the way, there is a nice, recent AP news story about Edie meeting Paul:
?Brickel was performing ?What I Am? on NBC?s ?Saterday Night Live? when she noticed Paul Simon standing in front of the cameraman. ,,He made me mess the song up when I looked at him??, she said with a smile. ,,We can show the kids the tape and say: Look, that?s when we first laid eyes on each other.?? Brickel and the 62-year-Old Simon, who have been married 12 years, have never recorded an album together. They?re just now talking about putting together a collection of children?s song.?

 | I´m 15, and I´ve loved S&G all my life and have never seen them live. It is a shame, but I think Paul and Art are better off doing their own music anyway, because they seem to get along now and it ought to stay that way. "Distance Makes The Heart Grow Fonder", right? And Paul doesn´t ditch Art . .. Art seems more into the whole S&G thing, but Art is more nostalgic and hasn´t had as much solo success, so it´s no wonder he´s more eager for it.
I think Edie and Paul make a sweet couple, and I like her music. She has her own thing going. She said after the released of "Volcano" in the fall, "Asking my husband to help me write songs would be like me asking him to salt my food to his taste." I think she is a lovely lady who is devoted to Paul, but also devoted to her own music.

 | Just out of curiosity: a fan all your life? Please explain. Did your mother sing their music when she was pregnant with you, did she used it as a lullaby? |

 | So then Marieno, that means Paul´s NOT allowed to produce anybodies work again? Even though he´s damned good at it and enjoys producing. And anyway he only produced one Edie album and she is his wife.
Best tell Ladysmith the same then.
Paul is a very tallented man who enjoys sharing his skills and knowledge. |

 | I have another one Wim about Paul and Edie. Edie first fell for Paul as a young girl of about 13 or 14.
She´d gone to spend the day with a friend listening to music and doing the usual girly stuff. And they were going through her friends albums when Edie spotted this guys face staring at her with these brown eye´s. It was the cover of his album, ´Paul Simon,´ she was struck from that moment on. She thought he was gorgeous :-)
I bet she´d have laughed if her friend had said she´d marry him in 1992 and have 3 children with him....lol! |

 | I never said that i only think Edie deserves not always being related with him...and you know how people react...she said herself that when PPM was realised many people thought it was a "mentor" situation... |

 | I´ll clarify my comment on listening to S&G all my life now. . .
When I was a baby, their songs would put me to sleep. I don´t know if they were ever sung as lullabies to me, but I DID Love singing "Mrs.Robinson" at the age of 3 and 4(my favourite song back then, and still is one of them) and "Kodachrome" at the age of 6. I can´t remember a time when I didn´t know the words to "Homeward Bound" and a handful of other big hits the Oldies radio stations always play. Basically, they´ve been with me always. Now I love their music more than ever, play guitar because of it *thank you, Paul Simon!* and perform it at school. It´s the kind of music that grows up right along with you, I guess!
Now the current conversation . . .
I think Paul enjoys all aspects of making music. Edie is his wife, he seems very much in love with her, and obviously making an album with her was a way of bonding and sharing their gifts. No problem with that!
Edie loved Paul since 13 or 14? I didn´t know that! Here´s a question I have . . .
How long did Paul and Edie date before they got married? In the open biography she is discribed as a "longtime girlfriend", is this true? |
