 | How many of you think this is going to be the last s&g concert this world will ever see? |

 | I don´t know. I was talking the other day with some friends: how long can (rock) artists go on without becoming a joke (think about Frank Sinatra).
If voices are going downhill (Art), I prefer that they use the good days to go into the studio and make a few nice albums. Let´s say, when we are ten years further, then I like to have a good memory of a last concert long gone, then a bad one of a recent concert.

 | I really hope it will be and that Paul will go back to the studio to work on his solo album. They both have enough money now ! |

 | Paul´s new solo album is due out in November . . . that´s the latest I´ve heard.
S&G is a great duo, and the farewell tour was nice, but Paul dfinately has better things to do then earn money off nostalgic stuff . . . his solo career, in my eyes, far surpasses anything S&G every did, even though I DO Love S&G . . . so my attitude is . . .
Rock on Paul Simon . . . without Art Garfunkel!!! |

 | Well sadly I never managed to see them perform, so I´ll have to do with the DVD when it comes out.
But I agree, I Love S&G, but I´m a bigger Paul fan and I still feel Paul has the better voice now.
I´m itching for a new album from Paul more than a new studio album from S&G.
SO I agree..Rock on Paul!!!
Hugs

 | He described his new album as going to be "more like the work I did in the 60s and 70s" . . . so that will probably mean it will be more guitar-based, right?
Maybe an acoustic concert is possible! I, too, would do anything for that . . . the problem is that he always says he can´t play just a basic concert, with the spotlight on a guitar, for as long as he used to . . . because of the problems he had with his hand. |

 | I think that you should bear in mind that there are new fans all the time. I´m 18 and have only been an S&G/PS fan for a couple of years. I therefore feel very lucky that I´ve had the opportunity to see S&G 2 times before in the US and UK, but if I had discovered the music a bit later I would be devestated at the thought I would never get to see them. Similarly, you may feel satisfied of S&G now but 10 years down the line it might not be the same. The hysteria of the tour shows that occasional reunions are wonderfully appreciated by all concerned and it saddens me that consensus seems to be that Paul should ditch Artie now |

 | I understand what you are saying Pezza. For new fans it must feel like you missed something, and you hope that there is still a lot S&G to come. At the other hand, when you read how Paul talks in interviews through the years about the S&G thing, he is very clear that it marks a period and that he moved on. And as a fan you can not help yourself to get the same feeling. After the famous concert in Central Park in 1981 and the tour the followed, the pressure was great to make a S&G album. The idea was to transform the solo project that was almost finished (?Hearts And Bones?) into an album with Garfunkel. But it took Art ages to sing his parts and the result was big frustrations again and a biiiiiggggg delay of the album. And when you know that, you got something like: heee, if I can choose, then come on with your new solo album, tour with it, and get home ? don?t help your wife in the studio, but work on another album of your one, maybe do a S&G song like ?My Little Town?, but movvvveeee on!

 | Well there was nothing wrong with helping Edie with her work. It was an excellent album, both well written and well produced.
With regards to Paul and Artie working together again...Is there new found friendship worth it? I don´t think so. Last time it drove a huge wedge between them and made them both very bitter.
Now they are friends again, enjoying themselves. Their 63 this year and their friendship and how they see each other I feel matters far more than a studio album that could bust them up again. Sadly, their not getting any younger and I would rather they spent the next 20, 30 years, or what ever, as friends than have another S&G cd in my drawer.
I fully understand how the new fans feel because I have NEVER seen them perform and I´ve only see Paul live once. I just sit back and enjoy my CDs and videos, etc.
As they say, "Lifes too short!" |
