 | Today I heard on the Dutch radio that Simon and Garfunkel are flying separately while touring because they still can´t get along.
Does anybody know if this is true?

 | Hi Amber, on what radio station did you hear that? And who said it?
According to Paul and Art themselves, they are getting along fine... |

 | Flying seperately might be just how they prefer to travel. Both are family men and, no doubt, being in each others´ company all the time might no do the friendship any good.I did read that thigs were a little tense during the early rehersals for the first part of the North American tour, but then again, you must expect some tension when you consider the responsibility to each other and to the fans, the media and the tour promoters. Also there must have been differences in the early stages because of each one´s strong personality and the way they wanted the arrangements to go etc.I still go by the statement made by Paul Simon in an interview for the BBC, done years ago, when he was asked about their differences and friendship....to which he replied "Art and I are going to be friends our whole lifetime".Abbott & Costello didn´t get on, Laurel & Hardy didn´t associate outside of film making, Morecambe & Wise didn´t socialise, Lennon & McCartney had harsh words, The Everleys didn´t speak for 20 years or so, Dean Martin & Jerry Lewis fell out for 20 Years, Why leave Simon & Garfunkel out of this classic line-up??

 | Sometimes I think this whole thing, with regards to their friendnship, is silly.
People, the press mostly, seem to think that they must hate one another because they fall out or hurt one another. And when they say they´re getting along. They must be lying.
I have fallen out with my friends and my family. Not talked for a while because of it. But it doesn´t mean I Love them any less.
It´s just not possible to get on with someone ALL the time. If you talk you are bound to disagree on something.
And when you have known someone for sometime you´re bound to hurt them once in a while. We´ve all done it.
So why should Paul & Art be any different? And because of this why should they hate one another? Why are they supposed to be any different from the rest of us human beings?
I do believe they are close and good friends who, like anyone, disagree and hurt one another. It´s part of being human. We have different views on life, different opinions. Their no different. |

 | Maybe they fly separately because they care for us fans so much.
You know, a lot of parents fly separately... if one of them should die because of a plane-crash, the other one would survive and can care for the kids.
Maybe they think: if one of us dies, the other one could still do a solo tour, and sing "our" songs...

 | hm, appart from the fact that I believe they are travelling by bus most of the time - it could be true ;-)
But I´m sure they are travelling in different busses, because Simon is snoring all the time while Art is smoking pot trough the night and singin all the time "Oh...uh..it´s so wonderful...what a show... uh oh ... I´m happy to be back.. lie la lie..." :-)

 | Hey Kuno,
interesting point. Hopefully this will never happen, but what if?
Imagine: If Paul´s plane crashes down, Art will continue to sing his, S&G´s AND Paul´s songs in concert, I´m sure. But what it Art´s plane crashes down? Then Art´s music wouldn´t be performed live anymore... |

 | Will Paul live longer than Art?
I´m sure he will not sing at a funeral.. that´s not his style.
