So "the first Simon & Garfunkel song in 30 years" is really just Art Garfunkel adding harmonies to a demo Mr. Simon recorded almost two decades ago ... "Glorified Karaoke" if you will. So, having pulled this off, S&G could really record nine albums worth of new material (11 if you include offical live records) if Artie just rolled into the studio and recorded harmonies on all of Mr. Simon´s Old albums.

SO, my question to all Simon fans across the world: What old Simon solo song(s) would you not mind hearing Artie record harmonies over? Here are my top 5:

1) American Tune
2) Love
3) Born At The Right Time
4) Can I Forgive Him?
5) Slip Slidin´ Away

I know that there are live versions of "American Tune" and "Slip Slidin´ Away" that already include Garfunkel´s contributions, but I think studio versions of those tunes featuring the "Old Friends" would be pretty nifty.

Okay, Simon Soldiers ... your thoughts?

Where did you read that Jason. I´ve not anything about Artie adding harmonies to Pauls origina; demo.

Forgive me if this has already been mentioned somewhere I´ve been on holiday for two weeks.

Well no, that´s heresy.
I don´t want to have Artie´s harmony on any Paul solo song!
For what the hell? To sell all the solo albums again as S&G albums then...yeah good marketing idea ;-)

BTW. I´m still surprised how much John Mayer can add to Paul´s songs (the absolut right rock voice in duet with Paul, and a fantastic guitar + mimic ;-) ) - they should go on a face to face tour and sing together.

Not one of them!! Paul, don´t let Art lay his hands on any of your solo songs. Sorry, but there is a big difference between S&G songs and Paul´s solo songs.

I liked John´s contribution too, maybe he can be of some assistance on Paul´s new solo album ;-))

Soldiers, soldiers, soldiers ... of course this would never happen - and believe you me, I´m glad it never will ... it´s just hilarious that two of the three songs S&G have collaborated on since their break up ("My Little Town" & "Citizen of the Planet") have been Paul Simon demos to which Art has lended his harmonies ("(What A) Wonderful World" w/James Taylor being the only exception). So I´m just asking - very sarcastically at that - what´s to stop Artie from doing the same to every other solo Simon track? $$$$$$

Sorry for the misunderstanding, soldiers. However, I do stand by my top five suggestions. And Paul´s made it no secret that there are some post-S&G tunes he wouldn´t have minded having Artie sing on.

And as for John Mayer - I don´t think he adds anything vocal-wise to PS´s songs. He´s an outstanding player, that´s no doubt. But didn´t want to hear him on "Boy In The Bubble" and "Slip Slidin´ Away" ... he´s got the wrong tambre for PS songs ... their voices don´t work together at all.

In a kind of "political" way, I don´t want Art to sing one of Pauls solo songs.

But, honestly, it would be very interesting to hear how it sounds.
I mean, Art sounds great on American Tune, Slip Sliding...and he sounds not to bad on songs like Me And Julio or Late In The Evening.

Comon, I know you all like Pauls solo songs more than S and G, but wouldn´t it be interesting to hear Art on some Paul songs ?
I surely don´t want them to release these songs or even record a new album, but from a musical point of view, I would Love to hear Arts voice on some songs.

great question. i think that ´can i forgive him´ would be incredible with arties harmonies on top of it (though re-recorded would be best).
hhmmmm ... a few others: That´s Where I Belong, Under African Skies and maybe, congradulations.

as for paul and mayer, ive never been a big fan of mayers stuff, so i dont think that he adds anything to pauls music. i am still waiting for the day when paul will do an unplugged kind of performance, with just him and his guitar .... oh yeah, thats the stuff. i hope and pray that we will get the chance to see that happen one day. it would be beautiful.

would be nice if he would record his songbook again.... He would sing and play these songs in a very different way in these days.
