 | I am looking for the guitartabs to The Boxer intro, the way Paul played it on the "You´re The One - live from Paris" DVD! Can anyone please help me find them? |

 | you made me lol too, Nath :o)
I also have no tabs for it, but i figured out how to play it. I think I used the YTO DVD too to see how Paul plays it.
I am pretty sure that this intro is the same as he plays while the clarinet solo.. certainly you´ll find tabs of that part, maybe this will help you too.
PS: Still laughing about the first answer and Nathalies reaction... |

 | The Boxer intro is played by Fred Carter Jnr on the record. He re-tuned his high E string to play it.He speaks about doing the Boxer guitar part in one of the 8 programs called "The Paul Simon Songbook", broadcast on radio 1 in 1991 but actually recorded in the 70s.Fred Carter Jnr also plays on the live bootleg from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, 1969, here also playing the intro similar to the record. It was, according to Garfunkel, the first time S&G had taken a full band on tour. There is a tab online of the original record version of the boxer too.I don´t think Simon ever played that little intro himself live on stage. |

 | There is a simple way to play it at the first position on the guitar. |

 | @Bing Frisby:
I am not sure but I think you are talking of the original boxer-intro...(which he played also live on stage...on the 11-11-69 bootleg for instance). But Sara was talking of the intro as Paul played it on the YTO DVD (and also plays it on the current tour by the way). It´s nothing special in my opinion, just the first verse but played a tiny little bit different.

 | Yes, it´s not too complicated. He plays the C with a hammer on, when he plays A minor he hammers on and off with his index finger(you will also hear him play this A minor hammer on in the 1991 Central Park concert to let the applause die down, he just holds it on A minor...The run down is as on the live Rhymin´ version(this too is used in the live Homeward Bound)This version seems improvised and it is only a matter of playing around with the hammer ons.....so basically work out the A minor hammer on, the C hammer on and the run down in thirds. The bass run down and hammer ons are also similar to the live Rhymin´ version. He used to play The Boxer with thumb and index finger only, but now uses thumb, index and middle on these versions....and plays with nails as opposed to picks. |

 | It´s great that so many have responded to this post, and it has helped me a lot!
But the thing I am mostly looking for now is the picking pattern (I am NOT sure that´s what it´s called in English). |

 | The trickiest thing is after the a-minor chord, you go to the G chord, but you must use only the smallest and the "f*ck-finger" (don´t know the names in english) on this G chord, so you have the other two fingers free to play these two extra notes on the D-string before it goes back to C.
Dammit, it´s so hard to explain.. maybe I should play it in front of my webcam and upload it *g* |

 | by the way: when I said "f*ck-finger" i mean the finger you use to make this sign with the hand, you know... don´t get me wrong on that *g*
(I just noticed that I should learn real english) |

 | I figured ;) I am alredy doing that..
I know, it´s so hard to explain! Well, I think I know how to play with my left hand, but I don´t know about the right hand. If you can explain it that way. Hmm.. |
