 | Paul appeared at the Democratic Party Convention, singing Bridge right after Sarah Silverman inflamed the Bernie Sanders faction by telling them they were being foolish. The timing was good in that it quieted the crowd, which had been quite loud and confrontational. I am glad that Paul feels he can sing Bridge with a closer arrangement to the original. He hit the high note at the end, but you could see it was a strain. After he finished, the commentator said something along the lines of 'that was music legend Paul Simon, who at 74 has just released a magnificent new album which confirms once again why he is an american musical treasure....' or words to that effect. I thought it was nice of him to say that.

 | Great Performance.
Normally Paul does not much concerning politics.
But to prevent the US from Mr. Trump is worth it.
I was very disapointed when Jimmy Carter was President. The US-currency fell down to an all time low in this time.
And I was impressed what Ronald Reagan did. He ended the cold war and the world honoured him with a Dollar doubling its value. And he was reelected.
Pauls enemy was Richard Nixon who was an unfair Player.`
But Trump seems to be ever worse.
At this time of Terror and unpredictable what happens next in which country we need moderate and thinking politicians. |

 | Was a bit disapointed in the song's boring arrangement...
Also not in his best form in terms of voice.
Apparently he was laughed at on social medias. Well, that's pretty much what people do on these, right ?
It poses the question of picking up that song. I mean, although we know that Artie's voice is no longer able to do it, most people do not know that. And the song is invariably associated with AG. So I guess people would say: 'where the h*ll is AG since you are preaching for reunification here ?!'
I would have liked more 'America' on the guitar.

 | If he sang 'America', it would have enflamed Bernie Sanders supporters instead of calling for unity. I know he's never performed 'Citizen of the Planet', but I wish he'd chosen that song to perform at the Democratic Convention. |

This is exactly what you need to do, to make him retire sooner.
Congrats.
Even if the performance was not brilliant, it was 10 times better than what we hear from Art Garfunkel those days. But that guy will never stop

And what makes people say he looks ill? I do not get it. He looks fine. |

  | Art was definitely struggling at Glastonbury. I thought his voice was recovering but he seems to be having more problems.
It is really unbelievable the numerous hate filled comments posted on social media and on Paul's FB page. Some of which refer to him as scum and a supporter of ISIS. (I cannot believe the people who run his page have not deleted them ) I have just read he was drunk during the performance ! The people at the Convention seemed to enjoy it anyway. Maybe not his best but it was still ok and did not warrant the unfavorable media response. I do agree Bodo that this could reinforce his decision to retire. Politics in the US is definitely ugly. |

  | Yes politics are ugly but they are taken to a new level in the USA when you are not attacking politicians but a musician making an appearance at a convention. He only sang a song and did not make any speech there. I made a comment on a You Tube video just saying I enjoyed the performance and got an e Mail saying people like me have a mental illness and some spiel about the Clintons. These sort of comments were not isolated. There were literally hundreds of them. |

CNN The axe files
Legendary musician Paul Simon sits down with David at the DNC in Philadelphia to chat about the 1970 breakup of Simon & Garfunkel, this fall's presidential election, and why he's not retiring just yet.

 | Perhaps keep clear of politics and singing BOTW.... that was dreadful (especially from such a perfectionist)... His "advisers" / Manager are surely not doing their jobs.. Just hope that PS keeps BOTW off the set-list in November. |

 | I saw a clip of Paul singing at the convention and thought the performance was quite poor . However it was one of the very few poor performances I remember, especially since he has had such a long and extensive career. ( I've also seen him live a number of times.) However it happens! it's sad though when people post negative, hateful comments to Paul and others such as Brenda. I feel they have these feelings about themselves and project them onto those they disagree with. |
