  | Just found one of those Paul Simon spots - actually just on google maps, but it still exists.
On this parking lot Paul was sitting in his car as a kid, while his parents went shopping, and for the first time he heard Elvis Presleys "Thats alright Mama"
The place was called Grand Union back then, and later Kissena Farm (still it's name today)
Anyway, here we are..imagine a kid sitting in a car, listening to Thats alright mama

  | And Paul sang it at the 2 Forest Hills Shows ! How good was that. He must have been thinking of that moment all those tears ago when he performed it. Preserve your memories, Paul |

  | Well - and then he said he has absolute no connection to that place today. Uh? :-)
But his whole family was there. |

 | Bodo, I think he was talking about physical connection (i.e. he doesn't go there often/ever anymore, his family and friends don't live there now, he owns no property there etc.) I don't think he was talking about emotional connection. |

  | Hi Matthew
Well - what I remember from that interview (can't citate it now), is that he finds it strange that people think it is something special to play at this place (his hometown), cause for him it is like every other concert. Didn't he say something like that?
ANyway, I think it was very special for him. Even when he was already very tired at the end of this tour..tired and bored of playing concerts maybe.

 | In my opinion, he specifically selected this place to end his tour, with perhaps the thought in mind that it might be his last one. There are plenty of other venues in New York he could have ended with, all of which he has played before. So this was done (as he does everything) with a lot of planning and fore-thought. |
