After reading the NY Times article, it sounds like this may be Paul's last album and tour. If so, I wish him much luck and happiness. I will miss him.

I am heading for a place of quiet
Where the sage and sweetgrass grow
By a lake of sacred water
From the mountain's melted snow.

Well, this article makes me glad I chose to see him on this tour, just in case it is his last in the USA. I am going to the concert tonight. 49 years ago I saw him and that other fellow at the same venue in Queens (the Doors were the opening act). I flew 1200 miles for this show, so I guess I count as a long time long distance fan.

Is anyone else on here going tonight?

Checked a few videos from yesterday's show. Cheaper...

Yeah, outdoor setting. I don't know...in the lesser known songs, the chatting is quite loud. So annoying. Plus all these people half of the time looking down on their cellphones. Dah ! I think I prefer indoor theatres for a PS show.

Talking about annoying stuff, so annoying these applauds when most people think it is the end of The Obvious Child and it is only the start of the ending ! Ha ha !

I hope Paul is not retiring. Let's keep our fingers crossed he takes a break and comes up with more great songs. But as Eric Clapton has said his days of live touring is coming to a possible end as Eric says he finds it difficult to play certain cords on the guitar.

I am shure if Paul can continue to play his guitar he will tour as I doubt he would continue as a vocalist only. Who knows only time will tell.

He seems to be very serious about retiring on music.
This is sad. It looks like also his brother is not that happy about it. To me it sounds like as if Paul is in some kind of personal crisis (midlife..at 74?), he thinks maybe he has done nothing else than making music.
This is strange, as he also tried to make movies in the 1970s. He also was ready to retire after the Capeman, so we can be happy that we got another 20 years and 4 albums. But now time has come I guess. He is also not sure how long his voice can held up, and I am pretty sure he does not want to end like Art Garfunkel and never wants to read a review on the newspapers saying bad things about his voice.

He might doing charity work - and hopefully will appear at some charity shows. CHF's tickets are expensive (1000+), but might be your last chance to see him perform in the future.

Thank you for this article -- I hadn't seen it. It does seem that he may well retire. This was very interesting. I wish the reporter had asked him about his performance at the 9/11 anniversary because that was one time that he appeared to let his emotions affect him a bit. Not enough to spoil the performance.

Yeah, saw this article a few days ago.

This is a bit strange indeed. Music is the tongue he speaks, that's where he belongs, etc, etc, but all of a sudden, the man does not really know who he is...

It is like he wants a job from 9 to 5 all of a sudden !!!!

Also, either he bullshits us about playing in Queens or he seems completely out of touch. He does not have any real connections there he says !!! Who is not thrilled to go where he grew up ?!

On the contrary, I think Forest Hill was carefully chosen as another jab at S&G, saying 'you see folks: 45 years later, I am here! And there is no Garfunkel.'

About the retirement thing, I think he does that because indeed he does not know what lies ahead for him. He prefers to not raise any expectations, so he does not end up on 5 years like Garfunkel having to admit that he cannot longer do it. If he still in good shape, then he could make a surprise.

But anyhow, whether it is now now or at 80 years old, we are at the end of the rainbow.

Even myself I am considering my retirement as a commentator. Imagine: O began on the WBR forum for SFTC. Almost 20 years ago!
