Yeah, great lyrics on that song, but I found unfortunate that Paul named the guru guy (John of God) in his liner notes. I googled him and what I found was not really somebody that I would recommend. Kind of a (rich) charlatan IMHO, a religious werewolf.

I think I prefer 'The Teacher' and its warnings !

On the other hand, no mention by Paul that Dean Drummond passed away only two months after the recording session with him. Maybe it is on request by Mr. Drummond; I don't know.

Oh, and if you cannot make it to Brazil, John can heal you in distance !

But don't eat hot peppers... ;-)

Paul: why giving publicity for that guy ?!

I can't believe that Paul is so stupid to fall for a charlatan.
Doesn't impact my admiration for his music, but nonetheless I'm a bit disappointed.

Interesting article. Thank you Brenda.

It puts things in perspective and illustrates the numerous questions that Simon was asking to himself while being there.

Maybe one person I am much more concerned about now is his wife...

Does it also work when visiting the web-site of this great healer (or shall I say dealer)? I hope so, because sometimes I have headache.

But maybe Aspirin is better. And cheaper!

What do you make of Paul himself being part of the 'cure' playing sound of Silence for the other pilgrims? Almost as if the song was destined for such a moment.

Of note: WB Yeats, for whom PS has great respect, dabbled a fair bit with seances, and believed in the paranormal!

Klausi, it works as soon as you transfered your credit card number. Everything else you do afterwards is the healing process (beside cancelling the payment, that would cause cancer)

Finally I heard the vinyl version and it makes a huge difference. The sound quality is so much better than what you get on spotify.

I think it's one of the hardest to digest albums, but it's growing on me everyday. Sometimes it reminds me of older songs, but so what... the album is great in it's own right. It's like YTO and RotS had a baby. Such a beautiful record.

No review Brenda? I haven't heard the album yet, so I can't comment. But I am surprised you haven't weighed in yet -- Or have you and I missed it?

It is always funny for me to read comments whether Vinyl or CD has a better sound.

Of course there is no difference. Cannot be physically.

At the end there is a big difference between good and bad speakers. And it`s clear, that analogues signals recorded by microphones come from the recording studio loose anyway. But not because of digital interruptions of high quality.
If they are not ok, it has a sound effect.

Some people think sound come from headphones have a better sound than speakers. (Can be, if somebody is talking endless stories between and you try to hear both messages).

Others guess, part of the sound should come from behind and have 5 Speakers.

But nevertheless, everyone gets what he wants and believes in it.

Hi Klausi

I always was for 100% sure that the Graceland LP sounded better than the CD. But - I guess - it could also be that just the LP player was doing a much better job than the CD player (same amplifier and speakers).

On the other hand I liked the sound of the ROTS CD much more than the ROTS LP. I think that the LP is recorded too quiet, I might play it louder than usual, so there is more noise from dust/scratches from this LP.

I liked the noise a LP is making a lot. It is so much different than playing a CD or MP3. And I do not mean hiss or scratches, its the noise when you first place the needle on the LP - or at the end, when it rotates for another 30 seconds and finally holds up the arm and brings it back to parking position.
I never cared for the sound of a cassette when you had to move fast forward .... just nerving sssssssszzzz

I need to buy a LP player again just to play the Graceland album...

Hi Bodo,

at first I am glad you are back again!-----

I had 4 Vinyl Players, and it is very clear the "Tonabnehmer" is the most important part, it decides what comes out of the Speakers.

The last one I paid as much as for a good amplifier today.

The most important guy is the sound mixer, in this case Andy Smith.
