I wanted to surprise my brother Tom and get 2 tickets for the ravinia show on June 18th no lies here my mother passed away last december ( love Julio down by the schoolyard) etc and my dad could NOT make this concert cause he just got a pacemaker at 84 I AM the LAST of 5 kids in the family who has dropped out of corp at 46K a year, to a part time job at 11.00 hr. so i CAN be working close to where my dad is... Long story long/ I wanted to bring one of my brothers to this concert, but at what I make? HOW can I afford that? I think Ravinia in general has gotten WAY out of hand in ticket and food/ beer prices seriously this started off as being such a cool thing...bring blankets, food, wine, what ever has now turned into being whored out.,,,sorry but true THE main thing should be about people listening to music... at a FAIR price....in an open environment if I AM TAINTED many more are,,,, PLEASE ticket prices are WAY OVER THE NORM DOOOOO SOMETHING

I agree.
Nothing more than I can add. It wont change.

But I have heard that those prices they are asking are not the prices most people pay. There are times when suddenly tickets from the first 5 rows show up for 40$....

What is the price at "Ravinia"?

Ravina was sold out ages ago . Lawn tickets were only $49 . There probably are tickets still available from resale sites but artists are not responsible for the prices charged there.

Brenda. If you find a usefull seating chart for Meadow Brock Amphitheater - Rochester Hills (June 19), let me know Brenda.
Actually I got tickets, but I am not sure where I sit :)
The plan just says "PAVILION"

Ok, lawn tickets for 49$ (that is the section in the far back, right?)
They cost 39$ at Rochester Hills.

The other tickets (Pavilion) cost 250-300 +59$ service charge. For 2 people that would cost around 820$ (just tried to choose the best available)

Well: Artists just earn their money this way now. Album sales are close to zero for most musicians, so they raised their prices for shows.

But you have to know that the system with concert tickets is the same like the system for flight-tickets (just the opposite). I guess most people do not pay that high prices, they get that ticket via some other way (like a hotel booking+ticket) and so they pay much less or do not know what they paid exactly. It is like the cheap airplane tickets: Who really only paid 29$ (maybe 10 people), the rest paid 39, 59 or 109$ and even 209$. And everyone thinks he paid the lowest price. While everyone at the concert thinks he got the best seat for that price. In reality the person in row 1, seat A could have only paid 80$, while you paid 450$ and sit behind him..

6-8 years ago I heard that it is quiet normal today, that people just use all their money for a concert ticket, they even decide not to go on vacation that year, just to have the money to see a show. This is out of my brains world.

Well.. I never did. I just planned my vacation destination so I could see one of the cheaper Paul Simon concerts too. This time New Orleans was just the right place to drive by (town is also okay...kidding). But tickets there are 75$, which is a good price to see 2 or 3 acts in the afternoon. (what i really disliked is that they are selling 1000$ passes for the front-stage area. we live in a complete 2-class system today. And wow, this 1000$ area was filled up with people)

Bodo. Looks like only Lawn Tickets and platinum gold and silver packages are still available from the venue. The remainder are resale tickets which is why they are so expensive. They are even asking $119 for lawn tickets that the venue has for $39, Seems crazy. Tickets prices have been quite reasonable this tour if you don't go for the top prices.
