 | In the seventies Paul was engaged in making Soccer more popular in the US along with Rick Wakeman, Peter Frampton and Mick Jagger. They invested in the Soccer-Team Philadephia Furies. But it was a flop. A Soccer game can end without any goal, and if you are even more unlucky, you was on the toilet when the only goal happened.
This is not very appealing for Americans.
Therefore Basket-Ball is much more popular in the US, whereas in Europe it is Soccer. Big Business whith much money involved as base-ball is in the US. At the moment we have a very special Soccer-Boss named Josef Blatter, probably even older than Paul.
The reason why one can accept this is that Soccer-, Base-ball and Basket-ball players have to get enough money for the rest of their lives at 35. And as in Pop-Music, all those who did not make it are forgotten as Jonah in One-trick Pony.
I don`t understand the rules of base-ball, someone is throwing a ball to a guy who tries to hit it as far as he can with a piece of wood.
And then somebody is running as if the devil was behind him and one of them made a goal.
Let`s be glad that Paul at 74 is not the base-ball player with much hope for making it there, but more with music... |
