 | I like it! It sounds way different than I thought it was going to based on the live version. That being said I think it sounds fantastic. This is gonna be an interesting album. |

 | I dont't like it that much. Of course, it would be unrealistic to expect an artist to be at his best when he's going to his eighties. Like sportsmen, the best mostly comes at younger ages. It's just an opinion. For me personally I the latest real great stuff I found on Surprise, that really had the last diamonds on it. As said, it's my opinion. And obvious also Hakan's. |

| I am also a surprise fan, I like it very much, to me wonderful songs. Capeman is also a favorite I listening much to. Here is my rating on each album. Ps 5, there goes rhymin 5, still crazy 5, one trick pony 4, HB 4, Graceland 5, Roots 4, SC 5, Yto 3,5, surprise 5, So B 4.

I agree that SBOSW is a massive album, but I can not rate is as high as his masterpieces (and I think Rhymin' and Graceland stand out).
I never rated SCAATY and ROTS as high as most people. Great albums for sure, but I find my self listening to them very rarely. I do listen to live versions of tracks from ROTS very often, though.
And well, this is a PS scale and the ratings reflect that I do think there are differences in quality. Compared to most other albums by other artists they are more or less all 5's ;-) |

| I like how you pointed out that there's a difference between how you would rate his albums between his own work and others. I think the great thing about Paul Simons music is how consistently good it is. He's one of, if not the only singer songwriter I know of whose never really released a bad album. They may be because he spends so much time on them. But I personally think only gets better as a songwriter where as most artists hit their prime when they're in their mid twenties. |
