 | There´s a thought in my head for weeks now, and I think i want to share this with you, though I think most of you won´t agree with me.
I am more a Paul fan then a Art fan. I see Arts voice as an "additional instrument" to Pauls music, and I am sure that this is the correct way to describe Simon and Garfunkel.
But I have to say that I really, really Love Arts voice, and that´s why I also like Arts Across America DVD (which I guess I never had bought if it had none of Pauls songs on it).
I see this DVD very often, and I always have to repeat the song Homeward Bound again and again.
The way the band arranged the song, the way Art sings the main harmony... I can´t help it: In my opinion this is the most beautiful version of this song ever.
Especially how he sings the last verse and the last chorus...it´s just amazing.
Surely I miss Pauls guitar...you clearly hear the difference...but everything else is so perfectly in tune.
Maybe you have to be a real fan of Arties voice to see what I mean.
I wonder what you people think about this version.
PS: I hope that you are familiar with this version or that you can download it from somewhere... I could upload it too, in case of enough interest. |

 | You are right Kuno. It is a splendid version and I think it is one song where the musical arrangement adds enormously to the song. Plus the way Art sings is superb too.
Personally..the dry despondent voice of Paul Simon singing Homeward Bound has another charm. |

 | I agree with you about Artie´s voice and in particular the version of SOS he sings on the Across America cd. Sometimes I don´t even care what he is singing. I just want to hear his voice. CY |

 | Yip, great performance on "Across America".The guitarist is also one of the best in the buisiness, Eric Weissberg.I Like his guitar work on"A heart in new York" too.I always thought the best version of Homeward Bound was on the Greatest Hits album, but since hearing many bootleg versions I like the Paris 1970 and Amsterdam 1970 versions.....and don´t forget the Live Rhymin´ 74 version too!On the Across America version though, I am not too sure about the "tonight I´ll sing HIS songs again..."again it is if it needs to be pointed out that Simon was the writer. The DVD too is worth it for the inter-cut words from Art....esp the part where he talks about "Bridge"... |
