 | I happened to be flying out of Dublin airport yesterday afternoon. I saw Paul Simon and the huddle of photographers. I didn't catch his speech which is a pity but I did get a direct smile! He was surrounded by a group who I assume was the Heaney family so I didn't think it appropriate to reach over to shake his hand in the middle of the hubub so I just stood back. After the photographs were taken he looked around as if at a loose end. He looked my way and I smiled and he smiled right back at me! I saw on a news clip that at the beginning when he came out there were people lined up and he shook their hands; maybe if I had got there sooner...! |

| Interesting to see he stayed at the Shelbourne. He stayed there many years ago on the BART tour I think. From the photos looks like there is the same 'fan' outside the Shelbourne and at Dublin airport. He was holding out a ROTS record for signing. Anyone we know? A persistent guy! Wonder did he get a smile :-) |

 | The radio show ended with Paul Muldoon reading some seamus heaney poetry - Paul Simon and Martin Hayes came on just after that so if it went in order of the live program it was left out :(((- didn't hear the complete program - did any one else? |

 | Paul and Martin were on about 1 hour 25 minutes into the broadcast. With a brief explanation of the song he performed, he was on for about 7 minutes in total |
