Well, that, his love of Yeats and Heaneys poetry, the afro-celtic music connection and his playing an Irish traditional tune with Martin Hayes - a well known fiddler during his last Dublin concert - the next big Paul Simon experiment could "Ceili Land"

BTW Leonard Cohen is performing this week in Dublin, first time I havent made it to one of his concerts!!

Just watched the little clip of Martin and Paul playing the tune again, Scaaty(thanks to you recording it!)Now that would be great to put on the Excessive Fans Section). Would love Paul to experiment with Celtic music and what a great title.

Leonard Cohen is also coming to Australia again this year. Have never been to one of his concerts but I am thinking about going!

Brenda,
Assuming Leonard Cohen is still as good in concert as he was a few years ago, I highly recommend you go see him. He put on a terrific show a couple of years ago when I saw him in Asheville, North Carolina and his band is the only one that I have seen that compares to Paul's band in terms of skill. Leaps and bounds above McCartney's band or Bonnie Raitt (and I like them both a lot!).

I saw Leonard Cohen as recently as last year in an open air concert just down the road from my house and he was brilliant - as you say - as good but different from a Paul Simon concert. Dare I say it sometimes I think I enjoy him more presumably because I'm more relaxed and not so caught up with being up at the front.

Definitely go & see him if you get the chance Brenda.

Hi Brenda,
o certainly you should do so. he is brilliant. Of course his music is completely different from Simon's, but it touches the heart also. For instance, do you know "sisters of mercy" or "famous blue raincoat". I attended 3 concerts of LC, the last one in 2012 lasted 3.75 hours not taking the break into account. With break it was over 4 hours. It's not the duration that makes it value for money (only).

The selection from ROTS and onward is really bad.

Have no clue what audience this collection is targeting. Maybe its intention is to fit to another incomplete best of collection?
Anyway: What are the "Best of" songs from the last 4 studio albums? Hard to say.
Capeman was a concept album/musical, the last 2 albums did not have any single hit.

(I think The Afterlife and als Outrageous flopped as single releases completely - they are not my favourites from those albums ...)

Well, from ROTS, I would pick 'The Obvious Child' and 'The Coast'.

SFTC: 'Born In Puerto Rico'

YTO: 'You're The One', 'Love'

Suprise: F&D and How Can You Live In The Northeast?'

SBOSW: Title track and 'The Afterlife' or 'Rewrite'.

With this, it would be a fantastic compilation. But they won't do it; they preserve room for another one next year...

"Quiet" has been replaced by "That's Where I belong" from the "Over the Bridge Of Time" Collection.
