 | My favourite album, showing Paul relaxed, in a good mood. No need to show his brilliance, not pessimistic like Still crazy. The sound very far away from his prior work. The album was much more successful than "Paul Simon", especially in the US.
Would give Tenderness, Mardi Gras, One man`s ceiling, St. Judy`s comet and Was a sunny day four stars.
Learn how to fall indeed is the only weak song. |

 | Ok, but "Silent eyes", "Gone at last" (the only optimistic song on the album, great piano) at least 4 stars, and "Have a good time" (his most cynical song) 4 stars. Those 3 songs are very unusual and enriching in pop music then and now.
"My little town" isn`t as surprising, life in a small town could be seen that way as life in a big city could be seen as crazy. The musical passage after "Everything`s the same back in my little town" isn`t surprising and remarkable too. 4 stars might be enough.
Not only his private life, but also his relationship to Columbia (new "enemy"-boss Yetnikoff after friend Clive Davis) was at a low point. Curious result: The No. 1 Grammy album of the year certainly sold more than 2 million in the US, but still today is not even confirmed Platinum (1 Million). |

 | Would like to exchange "Jonah" and "God Bless the absentee", Jonah 3 stars because of the remarkable melody, the absentee 2 stars.
The album shows Paul Simon sounding familiar. At first ok, but strange. Maybe a result of too less unfamiliar musicians, sounds and recording places.
I like "Oh Marion" very much. For me 4 stars.
Is it ok/intended that comments for Jim are put in here? |

 | Well for what it is worth I'm enjoying both the reviews and comments by klausi.
I'd put like for them all only whatever way my login is set up - it only appears if I make a comment ( which kinda defeats the purpose of having a like button methinks!!) |

  | Hi Scaaty - I think the LIKE works only if you are already logged in.
If you click like and you get forwarded to the LOGIN, then afterwards the "click on the like" might get missed. |

  | Yeah, music tastes are very different you see - even if you agree on listening to Paul Simon, we listen to different songs :-)
For me the album OTP works best as one thing - so I rate nearly all the songs as the same. Maybe Late in the evening is a little bit outstanding, as it has become such a hit and is much more upbeat.
I really enjoy the song "Jonah", maybe because I first remember hearing it on the MTV unplugged disc(thats one we should upload soon).
I would give most of the songs 4 stars, LITE 5 stars...I am not a fan of the song OTP and Ace in the hole.

 | Great review.
Think too much b is 4 or 5 stars for me. The lyrics are very personal and don`t say anything to most people. But one of his great simply melodies. |

  | Another album where I would not pick a song and say how bad it is :-)
Under African stars is such a gem. Maybe you are right and the production is too glossy, but that song is so beautiful, the harmonies, the rhythm, the bass line, the guitar playing...everything is perfect. Of course, maybe the version with Miriam Makeba is even better.
**** stars
I would say this album has at least five ***** star songs, the rest is ****, maybe All around the world is a *** star song.
Diamonds is at least 5 stars and YCCMA. I would also give UAS a 5 |
