Hello all. My name is Jim Beviglia, and I run a blog called Countdown Kid, devoted to counting down the songs and albums of rock´s best artists. I´ve just begun a series on the albums of Paul Simon, starting with his work with Art Garfunkel and moving through his solo work. I´ll be updating twice a week and I invite you all to check it out and voice your opinions in the comments section. I´ve done this for several artists and fans have really taken to it, and I´m excited to be able to delve into Paul Simon´s amazing catalog. Hope you check it out. The link is below.

What I like about your review is that you do not go with the mass - Feelin Groovy got only 2 stars, respect.
For sure it is one of the simpliest songs Simon ever wrote. And it is the easiest finger-picking song to learn on a guitar.

Hi Jim
Just a small hint - I think you should better post a permanent link to the article you are reffering.
at the moment you always link to your first page - with the latest article.

but then, the older link (+posting) does not make any sense anylonger, cause it leads to the new review.

This would be the link to your review about parsely sage rosemar and thyme for example

PSR&T,Feelin`Groovy: First heard the much better live version on S&G`s Greatest Hits. I think Paul`s story told on the Monterey Festival was true. He was coming from a more sad period (with an experience of LSD) of his life into a better one. And certainly he really crossed this bridge in the early morning.

So I would exchange it with Dangling Conversation (showing intellectuality). Dangling 2, Feeling 4 stars.

Otherwise I totally agree.

My review of Bridge Over Troubled Water is on my site and in the link. Next week (Tuesday, not Monday because of Labor Day), I'll dive into the Paul Simon solo catalog.

BOTW great too, maybe Celia is one star too much.

Without the strings "Song for the asking" had deserved one more star, but - only without the sweet strings to a sweet thing...

Now I made the same mistake as some others having chosen the wrong hand for my BOTW-comment. Sorry.

Hi Jim, agree.

"Hobo`s Blus" maybe was to show how musically educated Paul is - like Gonzo in the Muppet show 1980 (Sorry!).

Would give Papa Hobo one more star.

"Run that body down" and "Duncan" too, imo better than "Mother and child reunion".

Paul certainly wanted to make clear he is one of the top singer-songwriters of the time, when some important groups had separated and the likes of Neil Young, Joni Mitchell or Eric Clapton made their successful way alone. Also lesser known individuals like Randy Newman, J.J. Cale or Nick Drake made good music. It was the time of individuality.

Also - unlike in Rock and Roll in the early sixties - there were new ideas (David Bowie, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd), rock-fans got older and had more money, record sales exploded and not only musicians made a lot of money with it.

But the chance for new musicians to establish was better - one new successful album egalized 10 failures. The sound of the hardware gave much better quality at reasonable prices.

Albums and singles were more expensive than today, even nominally!

The times they are a`changin...
