  | According to Jim Oblon (Pauls drummer), Paul will be on tour again in 2014 with a special guest artist.

At the moment the band is in the studio recording new material.

  | I can think Art Garfunkel is the guest, to sing a couple a songs whit Simon, his voice can maybe make a few songs but not a hole concert. |

  | This was the original post Mog which was edited the next day after it was shared on AMPS.

 | Perhaps the special guest will be Steve Martin. |

  | Hm, Sting is not a guest IMO, he is the headliner... So this is a double tour? |

 | Sorry for being dumb, but what is "AMPS"? Thanks. |

  | AMPS stands for alt music Paul Simon . It used to be a newsgroup (it does still exist but I don't think anyone go's there anymore) but is now a Facebook group. |

  | Not a dumb question Richard.
AMPS is a non-public (closed group) on facebook. Anayway, most active fans headed to that facebook group now and post only there, so the time of public paul simon fan pages is over. The only sad fact is, that what people share on amps can only be seen by about 80 people. So the usual lurker wont see any Paul Simon news. |

 | Thanks for the explanation. I don't care much for Facebook, but it certainly seems to be taking over the world! |

  | People can join AMPS, it's not a private group. You just request to join, and we will welcome you. There are a lot of knowledgeable people on there, who've been Paul Simon fans for years - much like on this site too. Take a look (I hope you don't mind, Bodo?)

  | I did not say you can't join Sue, I just said it is "non-public and closed group" (you see that 'lock' sign next to the words A.M.P.S on the top of the page).
If someone wants to join someone else has to agree.
It is not a problem for me (personally), but I see nearly all active people left this page now and the real interesting "news" are shared only with a close group of 88 people, what is somehow not perfect (or is it?).
It keeps the whole paul simon fanbase smaller in my opinion, but who am I to blow against the wind ;-)
Anyway, thats development of time and internet. Maybe for myself it is enough to lurk on a.m.p.s a little bit and get my Paul Simon dosis.
But I see the dreamer of music closed their page because of less interest (one reason) and this happend to all other fan-based pages.

Good or bad, who knows. Somehow the internet was a much diverse place in those times. Today it is facebook and google and everything's going straight to the NSA :-)
