 | Hi Corry,
See the following link,
http://www.analogplanet.com/content/ithink-too-muc hi-sg-album-wasnt-0
In there it says
Garfunkel took his time writing his vocal parts, to the point where Simon had already finished recording his own vocals and Garfunkel wasn’t ready, still wanting more time to work out his parts. To make matters worse, Garfunkel countered Simon’s solo-production decree by requesting to record his vocal parts without Simon present in the studio.
So indeed Garfunkel's contribution was too slow. I want to play it fair and so I admit that you were right as well, assuming this source is correct also.

  | Thank you for the link Michiel. A really informative article. I still think Paul had no choice but to pull the plug on the collaboration. If Paul kept rejecting Art's harmonies it could have gone on forever and ever! And as a result of disappointing sales for the album wen got Graceland! |

A message from Paul:
Just saw "This Is 40". Funny. But joke about Art Garfunkel was not. He was the great singer of S&G and a gifted record producer. Nothing laughable about his talent.

Rudd and Mann stay frosty.
"You've made me Garfunkel!" Pete yells.
"I don't even know what that means!" Debbie answers.
He means she's the smart one, the songwriter, the Paul Simon — the one who can do without a partner, an Art Garfunkel, when the harmony sours. That's the point Paul Rudd's character tries to make to his onscreen wife, played by Leslie Mann, as This Is 40, about to crest its third hour, offers a funny, original moment. Garfunkel being, as music critic Robert Christgau memorably put it, vestigial.

 | There is one of his songs featured in the film. No wonder he is curious about the film |

  | Yes Mimi. Rewrite is featured in the film soundtrack. Could be one of the reasons Paul watched the movie and also why he does not want to be associated with the reference to Art. He has also posted a message on his Official site too. |

  | hm. well this kind of reaction from paul is new to me. seems he is really worried that Art might connect this joke with Paul because of the soundtrack.
I remember SNL sketches where they made jokes like that and even Paul or Art have been involved in those sketches. No one can denie that Pauls solo career was a little bit better than Arts. |

  | There is another current thread on this subject. "This is 40" is it possible Bodo to transfer posts relating to this topic on to there? |
