Hi there,

Any comments on the remaster of WB (2004) and the one from Sony (2011) ?

I had the opportunity to listen to the two versions, and yes, there are differences. The Sony version has some of the sounds of instruments/voices very clear, almost like the guy is playing in your living room. For instance, the voices of LBM on Homeless are magnificient.

On the other hand, with that clarity on many of the instrumental pieces, the ensemble seems to lack that great melange of things making it a compelling unique piece. The forest makes it wonderful, not as much when you see each tree individually. The remaster also lacks tonus on several songs.

This is why I think I am going to stick to my WB 2004 version, which has a good sound and present each song with a great balance between all elements.

Any thoughts ?

An example of lack of tonus: the new Gumboots, with the lighter sound of the drums and the much lighter sound of the rhythm guitar that makes the poum-poum/poum-poum throughout the song (´the bass sound´); an essential ingredient of the song, much emasculated. A sacrilege !!!
