 | I am afraid this time the joke is on us. And I have an opinion about that...
No, I am kidding. I think the regular CD/DVD represents the best price vs. quality. I might buy the Deluxe Collector Set, I don´t know yet.
My expectations are quite low toward the new demos. If they were not even put on the 2004 re-edition, maybe they were not a big deal. Anyhow, fun to see that there was actually a ´Crazy Love Vol. 1´.
As a buyer, I would have really like that they would have planned for a CD about the music of RSA that inspired Simon in the 1st place. Stuff from the Boyoyo Boys, LBM, Stimela, etc. It would have been very nice and a great tribute. |

 | The number of Graceland editions are extremely confusing!
Could someone help me understand what the difference is bewteen these two?
http://www.myplaydirect.com/paul-simon/details/267 45236?current_country=SE
And
http://www.myplaydirect.com/paul-simon/graceland-2 5th-anniversary-collectors-edition-box-set/details /26762951
The first costs 487.00 Swedish kronor (I guess you from other countries have prices in other currencies), the other one costs 860.00 (about 76% more!)
If I understand everything correctly both editions include:
* 2 CDs (with exactly the same content)
* 2 DVDs (with exactly the same content)
* a deluxe book featuring unreleased photos, new liner notes and a replica of Paul Simon`s handwritten
* both is "packaged in a slipcase wrapped in fine linen"
* both have "a deluxe book featuring unreleased photos, new liner notes and a replica of Paul Simon`s handwritten lyrics pad."
In addition to the above, the CHEAPER box also have:
* Graceland 25th Anniversary 180 gram vinyl
* a limited edition, numbered Graceland poster AUTOGRAPHED BY PAUL SIMON (how many will he sign??)
Why should I buy the more expensive box and get less? Or am I missing something??? |

 | When comparing the above box sets in other currencies, it looks like the cheaper box in Swedish kronor has the wrong price.
In Australian dollars the first box costs 249.99 and the second one 94.99.
But the strange thing is that the price in Danish kroner is about the same as the Swedish 423.00 and 720.00 |

 | It is a personal choice to buy any of the packages or not. Paul does not always sign autographs after a show and anyway Paul does not always sign autographs after a show and as it is unlikely I will ever get the chance to see one of his shows I am more than happy with the package I have ordered which includes the autographed poster. Especially as it includes a lot of extras. I agree it is not for everyone. I believe one of the less expensive ones does include the dvd of the Under African Skies film so everyone should be happy. |

 | I will be buying the Blu-Ray of Under African Skies at this stage and if there are hi-res tracks for download I will buy them too but nothing else. There is nothing else new bar a few demos which I can wait for.
I was hoping they might re-master the Harare concert or use some footage of other Graceland tour concerts for some extras (there is some in the documentary clearly) and at the very least include the concert he did in the TV Studio in South Africa last year.
I think something has gone a bit sour with the South African musicians choosing not to join the anniversary tour... |

 | Hi Bodo... I thought ´Crazy Love Vol 2´ was called that because it referred to Carrie, his second wife, and about whom the song was written? ´Crazy Love Vol 1´ was Peggy, but there were other songs about her... Where did I hear that?
I will buy the Blu-Ray and the Vinyl, and take my pick of the others when they go on general release and get discounted. I am a collector and am prepared to bide my time! |

 | Pretty sure Paul said he named it Crazy Love II because Van Morrison had a song called Crazy Love?
Great link Brenda! :-) |

 | very interesting interview ... some of the things Paul was saying were quite confrontational - I guess some issues have not been fully resolved
This leads me to what Matthew said:
I think something has gone a bit sour with the South African musicians choosing not to join the anniversary tour...
Could you comment any further? Is Hugh Masekela joining the tour? |

 | Scaaty, From the outset Hugh was never going to be in this reunion tour. There may not be any bad feeling. Could be a number of reasons if the SA musicians are not performing. we´ll just have to wait and see! |
