 | I gave my niece the Graceland CD for her 17th birthday last week - she said "finally my own Paul Simon Album! Fantastic!" hopefully the publicity with the 25 year anniversary will make it a cool thing for her to have. |

 | How´s this to make me feel Old???
For my ´O´ level project at the age of 16 I wrote about the history of Apartheid in South Africa and the controversy over ´Graceland´ whilst relating some of the lyrics on the album to the situation in South Africa and why the album should ultimately help to lead to the destruction of Apartheid.
Two years later when answering the question, "Describe how a composer of your choice develops certain themes across a body of work" on my ´A´ level General Studies exam, I wrote about Paul Simon´s use of rhythm to help to tell a story and tracing the roots of this back to the original remix of Sound of Silence ...
25 years come and gone so fast - I might as well been dreaming!

 | What struck me in reading The Guardian article is the fact that ´Graceland´ will be played in its entirety. This means that Paul will finally play live ´The Myth of Fingerprints´...
For the rest, it sounds like the show will be more like last year than the 1987 Graceland tour per say, with a few guest stars from SA: LBM, Ray Phiri, etc. |

 | Has Ray been confirmed? I think the whole "entire album" thing is speculation. It would Surprise me if he played All Around The World. I´m intrigued by the inclusion of Jimmy Cliff. |

 | Well, it has been posted on the official web site, Joey. re : entire album.
You are right: the inclusion of Ray is just speculation from me. |

 | If Paul plays "fingerprints", Steve Berlin will probably be in the crowd with his legal team.
Doubt it will be on the agenda. |

 | "The evening will include a special performance of `Graceland`, featuring Ladysmith Black Mambazo, in addition to songs spanning his illustrious career."
For what it´s worth, I wouldn´t interpret this to mean the entire album, start to finish. Besides, PS press releases should be taken with a grain of salt.

 | Press release or not, I´m not sure how it´s possible to interpret "Concert to include a special performance of the ground breaking album `GRACELANDâ? in its entirety" or "Paul Simon will be performing the album in its entirety at Hard Rock Calling 2012" any other way than the full album from start to finish. I don´t see much room for them to wiggle out of playing it all. The concert promotes certainly seem to be expecting a certain type of show, including the full album. |
