 | Should be a nice chance to compare the fall version to the spring version, which he performed on Jimmy Fallonīs show.

 | I must say I like the re-working of LIESL. Leave it to our guy to ´fix´ something 6 months Old!! |

 | I quite like it but honestly like the original version better. |

 | Well, it is not bad, but not transcendant.
The song is a bit all over the place...lacking in focus (lyrically aslso the case). It begins with a bluesy rock rhyhtm, then switch to country/rock and ends almost in a gospel mood.
I like it until God intervenes, after that, I find it boring. Incidentally, it is the same thing I feel with the original track. Once again, Paul could have made it a really good and attractive song with a more traditional narrative structure, but this is Paul Simon... |

 | @Ans
apparently not, since they did not even show the full song while airing the show.
Here´s the "full" version

 | I just ran across this YouTube post that goes even further to the end of Mystery Train.

 | Hm, it´s complicated. I think Pauls singin isn´t really the best (on that evening... or on that version?)
Especially during the first minute he sounds so out of rhythm...he is talking without rhythm/melody. Well, I like the album version more. |

 | I don´t know... I like that concert where Paul played LIESL twice much more... this one sounds too much out of rhythm to me.... |

 | Quite like the new version once it gets going. There is a video of it on YouTube. The song is indeed all over the place but I like it because it constantly surprises.
My favourite bit is when God steps in to explain how no-one gets his jokes.
Incidentally has anyone noticed how many remixes of the song are on YouTube? Presumably a result of the competition that they ran and many of the entrants have posted their efforts. |

 | Since hearing the rework of LIESL, I began to wonder if he offered up that song for the remix contest, ´cause he thought from the beginning it ´needed some work´. |
