This is from an occassional series called Singer-Songwriters at the BBC and was broadcast on BBC 4 last week.

It never ceases to amaze me how brown the 70s look!

One thing that puzzles me is that the sound on this clip - nearly 40 years Old - is almost perfect yet I can´t see a microphone anywhere...

David from UK says

The frustrating thing about this Parkinson show was that it was broadcast the same Saturday evening as Paul played in concert at the London Palladium, so anyone like me lucky enough to go to that concert also missed the interview. I think the Parkinson show was typically broadscast Saturday but taped the previous Friday afternoon.

This was in the days before video recorders in the UK, what a thrill to see this clip after all this time!

Great Videos!

Around the same days Paul taped his video-show "Simply Simon" in the UK in December 1975. Here he interrupted Homeward Bound making a joke.

It was on TV worldwide, even in Germany, but is not available officially.

What I remember most of the interview between "American Tune " and "Homeward Bound", was what a tetchy and at times prickly frame of mind Paul was in on this occasion.

From memory,two samples.

Parkinson to Paul(after opening with AT)

"That was beautiful....its a poem set to music"

Paul: "Its a song".

Later: Paul to Parkinson "Do you know anything about music?" Etc.

It was a long time since Paul re-appeared on the show.
November 2000?

Maybe now the whole interview will re-surface. Time the great healer.
