Hi all, I´ve just happened upon this link...

http://megaupload.com/?d=OJ4JEXLR

Hearts & Bones before Art was scrubbed from the plans and Paul re-recorded it! I know that links have been posted before, but I haven´t heard anything of this quality before, so I thought I´d let you all know... Train In The Distance is especially good. Enjoy!

Here´s a little trivia (likely easy for fans here): what the the album title before dumping artie??

It was going to be called ´Think Too Much´ which is a good title and would have resulted in it having two title tracks.

Yeah I can´t remember why he tossed that title? I mean after re-mixing it without Artie the title is even better...

so you don´t think it should have been called ´Cars Are Cars´ then! :-)

Thinking about it, because I don;t know what the phrase ´Hearts And Bones´ actually means, I can´t really say. I´m sure Paul chose the title for a good reason...

Georgia o´ keefe a famous American painter did a series of paintings/photographs of heart/blood and bones, representing I think the living/feeling part of humans and dead part. Her paintings also at this time included the landscape she lived in in New Mexico ESP the red mountains Sang de Christea. I´d Love to know if this was an inspiration for the album.

well, I think that was specifically about a trip to new mexico with Carrie, although I would imagine he is familiar with Georgia O´Keefe as well

no idea - and never made the connection before. but there is a HD thoreau quote: We are all sculptors and painters, and our material is our own flesh and blood and bones.
But I respect the O´keefe theory.

The t-shirt souvenier from the Summer Nights tour was S&G Think Too Much on one side and "let us be lovers, we´ll marry our fortunes together" on the other. I think when he dumped artie - he just needed to rebrand the whole thing (tho I agree ´think too much´ would have been all the more meaningful). I also recall it being the only album when Simon made a point of crediting all ´background vocals: Paul Simon" - so none of us would miss the point.

If you click on the link, it will take you to the download site... you will notice a counter counting down from 49 or so, to 0 on the right of the screen. When it reaches zero, it turns into a button that says ´download´. Click that, then choose where to save the file. It is a zip file, and the mp3 tracks are inside, so you will need winzip to extract them. (if you don´t have it, there´s a free version, just google it). Hope this helps!
