 | Of the eleven songs on Surprise (which I regard as his best work of the "post-Born At The Right Time Tour era" only four have been played live?! Once Upon A Time There Was An Ocean, Everything About It Is A Love Song, Sure Don´t Feel Like Love, Another Galaxy, and I Don´t Believe are great songs! (That´s Me and Beautiful are sort of lame) These need to be played!

 | One of the things I said to Paul when I met him in Senator Dodd´s office last May was that I was happy to see so many songs from the new album in the setlists of the recent shows. I mentioned that during the Surprise tour only 3 or 4 songs were included. Paul lightly responded something like "those songs are too complicated for playing live." At least he knows that fans are thinking about these issues and want to hear songs other than just the common ones. :) |

 | Cool story, thanks Paul. Those guys are all great musicians, I´m sure they could handle those tunes. |

 | Proof, I agree that they could surely perform those songs if they decided to do so. Paul´s response to me seems to be the way he likes to answer such questions.
For example, about a year or so ago after the Rubin Museum Brainwave event in NYC, I asked him if he would ever consider doing another acoustic tour like he did in ´84. He responded laughingly "that´s too much work!" It was a similar response to when I asked him about playing the Surprise songs live.
Of course, once he puts his mind to doing something, he does an amazing job at it! :) |
