...But no, Paul Simon hasn´t got a clear and known policy for traders.

Lo thank you.

Bodo, to add to Lo´s list there are other bands Phish, Pearl Jam, Bela Fleck, Ben Folds, Grace Potter, 311, Charlie hunter, Dave Mathews, Blind Melon, Black Crowes, Gov´t Mule or Warren Haynes, Allman Brothers, John Mayer, Primus, Levon helm, Bob Wier, Phil Lesh... allow it. Do i need to go on?

There are numerous amounts of bands who allow it that are huge. The list I posted was just an example. It doesn´t matter if how big or well known they are.

Id count The Grateful Dead as big, no?? Anyway, bands do allow it.. I know CSN allow it.. they thanked people recently for taping their shows in the 70´s.. Crosby and Nash actually released one of their bootlegs from the 70s because it was so good..

why do all you people feel like you have to answer when you have no idea what the correct answer is? Do you also give directions when you have no idea how to get someplace just for the pleasure of hearing yourselves talk? It´s nice to give legal advice, are you going to stand beside Katy when the lawsuits start?

Lets get Paul F to weigh in here, besides going to meetings with Paul S and Chris Dodd, I think he is a lawyer too.

I´m not sure why we feel like we have to answer when we have no idea what the correct answer is.

Well my answer was clear: It makes not a lot of sense to ask in a public forum a lot of unknown people about the law. Either the answer is yes or NO, it would not help you in any case later.

Even asking a lawyer does not change the fact, that you could loose a lawsuite later. The typical answer is: "It depends on..."
We seriously live in a dangerous world, because we do not have a clear law and authority which can tell you BEFORE if it is allowed or not. IT is no problem to hire a good lawyer and win, even if you have killed some people. The other way around there are many cases where people have been sentenced to death - and they never broke any law.

So if you are seriously feeling unsure about uploading a torrent, then better stop. There is no safety.
Even the Grateful death or whoever could change their mind and finally say :"Oh, we didn´t think you will upload THIS particulary show...we were just happy to have the Old shows. So this time we will stop you."

This page here is a completely desaster btw... The webmaster should close it in a minute or host somewhere in the Ukrain.

Oh, and the webmaster knows how much the official people around Paul Simon ´like´ that website.
But it does not help. This whole page could ruine the webmasters life. (But hey, that maybe brings him to a better future somewhere living on a caribean island)

Dear Bodo,

Please tell the "webmaster" that we don´t want him to live on a carribean island, (he lives in a rather beautiful country anyway) because some people Love their life complicated.

(Tua da nix on wegn de komischen Leutln, des is wirklich zu bled, das ma si mit sowas ärgern muas.)

Greetings

Well, to be fair, the grateful dead got big from bootlegs and never once stopped a single person from recording their shows.. sure they didn´t even want to record studio albums.. it´s how they got such a tight following.. from trading bootlegs.. but I suppose that was more word of mouth.. the biggest threat now is the internet

This kind of needless aggression is typical of some folk. When Paul mentioned JZ on SBOSW, someone one here was asking ´why Paul was taking a pop at him´. I mean, for Christ´s sake!

I commented on this post to try to help out. I didn´t have the answer, but at least I tried. I was being nice, which is more than can be said for some people on here. Clear off, crazy people! Oh, and Peace...

BODO!!!!! and as for your GRATEFUL DEATH remark that is a bunch of crap I never or Nobody on this thread started bashing any band names you like. I also am not the one who said Grateful Dead I thought about it but they are no longer since Jerry is no longer with us unfortunately. They are now called Furthur (who also allow taping and trading) with only 2 of the original members still active in that band, but the music is still getting on. Just because your stuck somewhere in a closed up world and don´t open your mind to new better things dosen´t make you a better person than any other.
Peace

I would hate the webmaster to close this site but I´d Love if this awful aggressive thread about nothing was deleted ( or this particular posting if I´m misreading the posting)

How is this an aggressive thread? why do you people make this so difficult? simple, simple question holy crap. Damn there is nothing wrong with this thread. just a simple question was asked a simple yes or no answer maybe a i don´t know sorry.. You people act as if this is a question about killing somebody. wow really? Dude if you don´t know don´t click on the thread its simple. I thought you people might be good people but it seems as if your not. I don´t know who is on my side if any of you but if your not get your facts straight...

All this thread was, was a question simply asking does paul allow taping? (basically if the artist allows taping then they usually allow trading of shows they frown upon selling of that particular content so NEVER SELL ANY TAPED CONCERT EVER!!!!! only trade in LOSSLESS!!! do not convert to MP3 and attempt to trade keep MP# for your personal use.) I´m sorry but some of you need to read up on this stuff before answering these types of questions.
