 | Hi there, I don;t know either, but there´s some food for thought.
The 1st time I saw Paul was at Liverpool in 2002. An amazing show... that aside, a chap in the row in front was taping fairly openly, and was also talking to security about going back stage. The ´men in suits´ were saying "He´s pleased you´re here, and will try to fit you in" or words to that effect. After the show, he whipped out his Sony and was getting others to have a listen to his nice boot. I didn´t see him afterwards, but I´m fairly sure I can hear myself singing/screaming in the background of the taping that´s currently up on DIME.
If Paul was totally against recordings of independent origin, he´d have been stomped upon. I reckon it´s generally a venue policy not to allow recording. They always say no photo´s are allowed, but they can´t confiscate 20,000 digital cameras and mobile phones, can they! I say go for it, but don´t be blatant about it. have fun :-) |

 | Thank you for your answer. I know about venue policies, and know alot of people who have run into some crazy situations. Anyway I was really wanting to know about it for posting on torrent sites really. I didn´t want to put something up and have problems come about. Again thank you |

 | The answer is easy - Don´t ask that question or they will refuse it...
(as long as it is allowed on dimeadozen I think it is okay with his management. They could easely refuse it there, and the admins at dimeadozen would delete all torrents)

 | You asked for taping, not for uploading on torrent sites.
I do not know any venues where taping is allowed. |

 | Well being here in the states bands allow taping and trading of there live shows. yes venues have the say whether or not they will allow it like I´ve gone to the Roxy Theater in LA,CA absolutely no even if the band allows taping (stealth). Ok so as for your as long as its up on torrent sites is a wrong answer. There are many torrents sites with recordings of music, movies, t.v shows etc... this does not mean it is kosher. You really need to get your facts straight. Thanks though for your insight of not knowing anything about it and posting. |

 | Don´t get caught -- that´s usually the policy of most venues/Rock and Roll stars. |

 | @blackeyedkaty for someone supposedly ´in the know´ you exhibit appalling use of English for a start (your post is barely legible), and have clearly never read the DIME policy on artist objection, or the policy absolutely prohibiting official material for that matter.
Fairly catastrophic failures for a know-it-all with attitude, one would say! |

 | Well Well looks as if people other than me don´t read the policies or maybe i should use proper english for you the FAQ´s This is posted right on Dime.
"Is this site legal?
This site is merely a tracker. No files are hosted on this site. The tracker also has no way of checking the contents of any files which it tracks - it merely records the hash ID and the IP addresses of users connected to each particular torrent. It is your responsibility to check that the content of the files which you download is legal in your locality."
So I am asking if Paul allows it because if he allows taping (trading) etc.... then it would be cool to put up a torrent of his show and or shows... Come on there is no need for all this crap. Just a simple answer which you gave and I thanked you for it. Plan an simple you all are making it harder than it could be. there is always those people around these types of forums though oh well what can i do? |

 | So, now that you can go to bed and stop beeing so nasty I give you an answer:
YES HE ALLOWS IT.
And if you think just a second about it, you will realize that my answer is worth nothing. You do not visit a forum and ask ´is it allowed to rob a bank in country xy, yes or no?´ - you are responsible for what you are doing on dime, thats what their policy says. And you are also responsible even if some guy on a forum just wrote :YES YOU CAN ROB THE BANK, NO PROBLEM.
If you want our amen, then go for it.
So the other way around -my question now: which artists said go on and tape our shows and trade them?(you said something like ´beeing in the us bands allow that´) I am pretty sure it isn´t Metallica ey (remember napster)?
Problem is: Even when THEY say I am fine with it their music label could have a complete other opinion. Paul Simon had no problem with a swedish musical group playing his songs, but suddenly some guy from Warner in Sweden stopped them (think it was Sweden, right?)

 | I did only a short browse trough that list - but have a feeling that nearly all of those bands are not relevant a lot (beside the names in bold...some bands which might have been relevant some decades ago). What I mean is, there aren´t any big names on it.

 | To tell the truth, Bodo, lots of bands allow and boost taping and trading of their shows. Phish or Wilco, to make an example. Dave Matthews Band became famous in the US because they allowed it and tapes circulate a lot so they made a reputation even before having recorded an album or released a live CD. The same for the Greatful Dead. So it´s not a limited attitude by not so relevant bands...
BTW, a lot of PS concert were taped and are available on sites like dimeadozen, so feel free to upload it. Me too recorded a show in Iceland three years ago and it must be still circulating somewhere. |
