 | Ashleigh, I don´t understand your question. Are you asking if George Harrison is the voice on Paul Simon´s record that says those words? Are you asking if George Harrison wrote the lyrics? Unfortunately, I think the answer is "no" to both questions. I say "unfortunately" because George´s voice is a welcome addition to anything for me and because it would relieve me if someone besides Paul Simon had written those crappy lyrics. :) |

 | Idk I like the lyrics to Cars Are Cars, I just don´t like the melody on the chorus. But it´s just Paul singing with an odd voice. |

 | Not sure why this is a topic here. It´s the worst song Paul Simon has ever written and one of the worst songs I´ve ever heard.
Everyone has their clunkers, see Springsteen´s "57 Channels". |

 | Ah thanks Royd! it sounds so much like George, but must be Paul putting on a Liverpudlian accent :) |

 | Worst Paul Simon tune? Cars Are Cars definetly is in there, I also like :The Teacher, and "Quiet" from YTO, and let us not forget "Long, Long Day" from One Trick Pony, for shear tediousness. A friend also recommended "Papa Hobo from the "parka" album, but that ditty is saved by a good lyric...still others like the very brief instrumental on SBOSW as a waste of 1:36. Myself, I think it makes nice filler, if nothing else...Just goes to show that an artist of our guy´s stature can sometimes write a clinker or two, along the way... |

 | I Love Papa Hobo; Long long day, I pretty much don´t like it at all, except the part in the middle starting with "slow motion, till shooting to kill, but the rest is pretty bad to me. I don´t really like a lot of the earlier songs anymore, but I sure liked them back then... seems like Paul feels the same way about them |

 | I figure liking a song depends on what you can relate to and what memories you associate with it.
I remember one day walking in the rain back to my college dorm, my Old sneakers soaked from the puddles, feeling exhausted. I turned on "Long, Long Day" and felt perfectly at peace.
We all have experiences that draw us to a song. "Cars Are Cars" by Paul Simon and "Long May You Run" by Neil Young are both about a car. Some people can relate to only one of them, others relate to both, and some just don´t feel the appeal of either. To each his own.

 | Yeah Long Long Day is a great song for after a hard day. Papa Hobo is a great song all around, but especially when you want to get out of town and do something but you know you can´t. Look at That can be good and relateable if you´re trying something new or asking someone out. Cars Are Cars is OK (imo) when you´re fed up with people. And I Love the song Amulet, but especially when my mind is wandering all over the place. I think its a great way to get a listener into the mood for QFTA. |

 | Cars Are Cars I like cos there is a certain cynicism for people´s preoccupation with cars ESP in the us ( and also here in the Celtic tiger yrs. The english accent in drive on the left is because they drive on yhe left in britain - also if you listen on ear ph es you hear drive on left in the left ear and drive on the right in the right ear - very clever I think. I also Love "quiet" I imagine that is what Paul really thinks the afterlife is about.
The leaves on trees are already turning normally this occurs in mid October - global warming ? Huh !! |
