 | Amazon.com are now listing the Graceland, ROTS, H&B and OTP re-issues for October 11. Only Graceland has a track listing up and that one´s exactly the same as 2004 edition.
They are also listing another Paul Simon CD coming from Sony Legacy called "Songwriter". The listing doesn´t have any information on what it is. I´m assuming it´s a best of CD, probably a single disc one at a cheaper price than the 2-disc Essential. Still no sign of any DVDs, though.

 | Maybe Songwriter will be a compilation of PS solo and S&G tracks as Paul did say he wanted to get the stuff under the same label and this would be one of the benefits of that.
The title songwriter would tend to emphasise Paul´s role in S&G as well. |

 | Well because of the price difference at least the new best of appears to be a 2 CD set...as if we need yet another one...I almost hope there´s not bonus tracks of some sort, so I don´t end up buying it- otherwise I most certainly won´t.
So what we have left is 4 more... "Paul Simon´s Concert In The Park", "Songs From The Capeman", "You´re The One", & "Surprise" (assuming that "So Beautiful Or So What" will remain on a different label & is too recent to be re-issued).
So my hopes lie with "Songs From The Capeman" (which has colossal potential for other bonus tracks- even a 2 CD version!!)...and "Surprise"- which has never been re-issued- there was rumored to be an extra track Eno was less crazy about that could be added, but my bet is that they´ll probably do what they did with "You´re The One" & choose a handful of live versions of tracks already on the album to tack on as the bonus tracks- still it´ll be nice to have something...and since this is a top shelf Paul Simon release for me, I´m hopeful & excited.
This last batch of re-issues has great potential, though they may deliver nothing...the most interesting since "Live Rhymin´" actually delivered something!! I wonder if "Concert In The Park" will even get re-mixed/re-mastered/re-issued at all? One can hope! |

 | Except for ´Graceland´, which will receive the same treatment as BOTW last Spring, I do not expect any Surprise for the upcoming releases.
And the ´Surprise´ album...they will probably re-release it (I cannot say that it excites me...I mean the album is 5 year-Old!), but I doubt there will any interesting bonus tracks.
For another greatest hits, well, we know the story...there was a release of that sort after each of his studio album since Graceland...so... |

 | The Simon & Garfunkel angle that Matthew spoke of is interesting. That could certainly happen now. It would be a little strange for Sony to be releasing a best-of now when they re-released Warner´s Essential CD on their label last year and I don´t think they could even add anything from SBOSW with it being on another record label, so perhaps the new CD will be to highlight all of Paul´s career.
I don´t know how those catalogue deals work, but surely Sony - if they´re paying to buy Paul´s back catalogue - would want there to be something there to make money with? These same Old CDs can´t be selling well, so where do they plan to make it worthwhile? Hopefully there´s something new coming on the DVD side. |

 | Amazon.com has added track listings for the ROTS, OTP and H&B reissues and they are, as expected, the same as the ´04 releases. I guess it´s good for our wallets, at least. :D |

 | That sucks. There is absolutely no reason to buy them then. |

 | Hm, no that does not suck. I am glad there is no reason to buy some albums again I already have, just because they have add 1 pre-working-studio-in-progress version...
This is not what I want.
Maybe they realized that they can not sell fake things again and again (I doubt that), maybe Paul refused to search trough his studio-takes again, just a few years later.
They have tons of other material to release (many live videos), there is no need to release the same things again and again.
Live in Montreux 2002 and/or 2008 (video)
Central park 1991 video
Live Rhymin video
Live recording of the 1984 solo concerts
Blue Ray of YTO in Paris(?)
Live show of 1999 with Bob Dylan
No need to buy the studio albums again if I can not have those gems.

 | @Bodo,
I never new that there was that much video available. I just can´t understand why all this stuff isn´t being released... it´s frustrating really |

 | Not all video, at least I am pretty sure there is no 1984 video (not sure about 1999...I have the feeling I read somewhen about it, anyway a CD always would be welcome)
