 | Sounds interesting. But would say it is more like a studio jam on some of Rays songs.
Anyway it would be nice to have one new song in that style. But I keep my expectations low on a new release. |

 | IIRC there wasn´t a lot of additional material (is there ever from Simon?). wasn´t the album about complete when they added Diamonds? |

 | Idk what these tracks are but it´d be a real treat if they were new songs considering the wait with PS is usually 5 years. |

 | The quote from the article that´s causing the stir is...
"Officially, Simon is back to film a 25th anniversary documentary honouring his award-winning album, which he recorded with the cream of local musicians in 1987.
But what The New Age team saw yesterday was a tight band deep in rehearsals working on previously unheard tunes, including some hard-driving jingles with heavy Shangaan pop influences."
So maybe they were just jamming, or maybe Paul is working on some new songs. It´s hard to tell.
I do think we´ll see the Paul Simon & Edie Brickell duet album fairly soon (I´d bet on 2012, or 2013 at the very, very latest). The songs are done for that (Old originals they´d written for their kids over the years & some covers, etc.), all that´s needed is to finish the recording process & find a release date.
As far as another Paul Simon solo album goes. He seemed to be more invigorated & working rather quickly following this album. There´s the story of him agreeing to work some with Jackie DeJohnette (who adored & literally studied "The Rhythm Of The Saints"), and one can hope for something sooner than the usual half decade long wait, but...we´ll get another album from him when he´s got enough songs together, and when he´s good & ready.
One thing most Paul Simon fans have learned is that he doesn´t rush things, but that those results are well worth the wait!! |

 | Agreed. Of course he may be working faster now because he feels like he doesn´t have as much time left. I mean hes just about 70 now. If he is still able to sing and write at 80 I´ll be really impressed. I once saw Chuck Berry performing at 84 years Old, and while it was awesome because he was Chuck Berry, he had to talk most of his songs rather than sing them. So maybe Simon wants to write while he still knows he can. But of course all of this could be wrong. Simon is the only one who knows for sure. |

 | I have no big expectations about re : new songs. I mean...what I expect is they probably have practiced a couple of songs for the show & reunion in SA that comes from the SA repertoire or the one by the SA artists. A little bit like Masekela doing his stuff during the Graceland Tour. These songs will help selling the package to us down the road.
But I do not expect that Simon actually recorded anything new of *his* songs over there.
As for the future, well...it is true that the age passing factor might be an incitive for him to kick his b*tt to get back to work, but still, I would be surprised if he comes below of his 4 years for the upcoming pieces of work. |
