I missed that one, don´t know why:

http://www.zeit.de/2011/18/Paul-Simon

A few interesting points for you:

He was asked if he still will record and tour when he is 90 - answer was: It´s possible, why not. (That should make us happy...)

And also interesting: He was asked if people recognize him on the street. His answer was - to my Surprise - never, he sometimes walkes in front of his office down the street, and never has been recognized by any fan.

He think the best songs ever written are Silent night and Someone To Watch Over Me and My Funny Valentine. While his own songs are not even close to that. (Can´t agree btw... Bridge or SOS are even at that level of long time classics)

I am not surprised he is not recognized most of the time on the streets. I am sure he is kind of grateful for that....gives him a bit of privacy to do his stuff.

I remember an article in 2009 when he was in New Zealand or Australia for S&G. The journalist was saying that Simon was the author of one of the most impressive 20th century pop catalogue, and still was able to visit museums and the port without having anyone recognizing him.

How does he know people don´t recognize him? My girlfriend said she saw him in NY -- neither of us would speak to a man who is a total stranger on the street, whether famous or not.

What is it with coffee -- I rather think it sharpens the mind.

I just came back from a weekend trip in New York... Passed his office a couple of times, but had not the luck to see him :o)
But if I did, I surely would have approached him... in a very moderate and shy way of course.

I know the joke he will crack, when he shuffles onstage at the Hammersmith Apollo in July 2031.

"If I knew I was going to live this long, I would have taken better care of myself!"

Whilst Edie sing My Funny Valentine from the wings.

There´s a recording of Billy Joel where he explains playing in 5/4 time, demonstrating "My funny (fucking) valentine... Sweet comic (fucking) valentine..."

Behold the way our fine feathered friend,
His virtue doth parade
Thou knowest not, my dim-witted friend
The picture thou hast made
