From the Bourmemouth Echo:
DISAPPOINTED Paul Simon fans have been urged to seek a refund after the folk-legend`s promoters announced that they would not be rescheduling the event.

The sell-out gig in Bournemouth was cancelled just an hour before it was due to start on Monday night.

Organisers at the Bournemouth International Centre had hoped to negotiate a date to reschedule the folk-legend, who was said to be `horribly disappointed when a nagging throat infection forced him to cancel performance.

But yesterday (Tuesday June 28) Simon`s promoters announced that the 69-year-Old needed to `rest his voice and as a result the decision had been made to cancel the Bournemouth show.

The singer-songwriter, who is on a six-month tour to promote his new album So Beautiful Or So What, last performed in Bournemouth at the BIC five-years-ago to rave reviews.

He played at Glastonbury Festival at the weekend (June 26), after explaining to fans, prior to starting the performance, that he was suffering from a throat infection.

This may be correct but so far it´s only this local paper that´s saying this, and they don´t seem totally clear - the ´rest his voice´ reason was what Hammersmith Odeon were saying about today´s postonement, so it could be that two stories have become confused.

If and when the decision is taken to not reschedule, the ticket agencies will contact all customers with refund details. Until then, there´s still hope for a reschedule.

I think that article which refers very vaguely to ´promoters´ is possibly putting two and two together and getting five. I was told at the venue by a representative from the arena that the event was being postponed.

All being well, if Paul makes a speedy recovery and completes the rest of the tour, everyone involved will want to reschedule because it is very costly to refund all that money - and Paul won´t want to disappoint his fans.

Fingers crossed and maybe wishful thinking, but I am going to wait until there is a more official announcement before trying to get my money back.

I think Paul, with Art to look at as what can happen if you overstress your voice, if that is what Art did, will be very careful not to overdo it.

Maybe he will reschedule at a later date. He doesn´t have time to do it now, but I would think he feels sorry about the cancellation and would try to go back there at sometime.

There´s now an official announcement on the BIC web site.. the show can´t be re-arranged and the BIC will contact people regarding a refund. It´s a real shame that performing at Glastonbury probably caused Bournemouth to be cancelled and Hammersmith to be pushed back a day...
On the bright side I´m sure that PS would Love to come back to the UK pretty soon again and play Bournemouth.
Simon.
