 | Did you watch the Old version Jon, or the latest iTunes.avi File?
The new video should be in sync, Patata already fixed it. It is not a nanosecond, if you can see it it is always more than half a second. |

 | STOP..my fault. You are right Jon, the picture and sound are not in sync at the end anymore. It is in sync at the beginning of the show...or let´s say till 1 1/2 hour. Hard to find the position where it´s starting be not in sync... |

 | I donwloaded the version that Patata linked on Jul 7th in this message. I don´t know if that´s the new or the Old version. On that one, I think that even in the beginning the audio is off a bit. I only watched parts of some of the songs, so I can´t speak for the entire thing. |

 | I see. Yes the audio-sync is really a problem on that file, because it is not just a sync error of a few frames, it changes over time. |

 | Ok found a 2nd glitch.
Think the sound is pretty in sync until SOS (if you watch That Was Your Mother it is perfect)
During SOS the picture stops for a few frames, even sound stops. after that nothing is in sync. |

 | Did anybody happen to notice the glitch at the end of Still Crazy After All These Years? Could that be when the sound starts to be out of sync?? |

 | I downloaded all the individual files for each song (5.5GB - with the sync problems which are worse as the concert progresses). I then downloaded the 4.7 GB single .aiv file and burned this to a DVD.
I must say this does not look as good on my TV & home Theatre Sound Sysytem as I was expecting - both sound and picture. When I played on my laptop direct from the files and with speakers plugged in it sounded great.
I assume this is because of more compression to get it to fit on a single DVD?
I personally would prefer it split into 2 DVD´s rather than lose the picture/sound quality. However that would require the original source to first correct the Sync problem.

 | Think double-layered DVD Gerard ;-)
Not but seriously, indeed, I would be hungry for the maximum quality files, if they ever exist somewhere...I don´t care if it is 9 Go, but internet access can allow it to me.
I know that Patata´s file lies on MP3´s as audio layer, which sound a bit unusual for very high quality burning. Sorry Bodo...the image could be high resolution, but...
Thanks to Patata for his hard work. He was not obliged at all to do that for us, and offered us something very convenient :-)
There is the DVD version that Bodo is preparing for us, and along the road, a potential official full-quality version.
Bye Gerard ! |

 | I feel like this recording is about a million times better than any other available of any of these series of concerts. Fortunately, I watched it before anyone mentioned the sync problems, and i never saw them. This is an incredible gift by Patata, and also from Paul of course. For that, I will make a donation to CHF, for sure.
I know you are all talking about how to improve it and make it perfect, and you clearly have a lot of technical knowledge and ability. I think I am pretty happy to enjoy the files as they are; really I don´t want to watch the video more than once or twice, and then maybe again if 5 years or so. The quality is fine for me, and if the sync is a bit off, I ignore that in favor of enjoying it, the mp3s I listen to everyday, they are fantastic. |

 | Hello again!
iTunes have just released an official EP of the gig. It has the same songs on as those streaming - pricepoint £4.49p... |

 | Hi
Not sure if a 2 DVD version would be much better.
The problem is not the space of 4.6 GB, it is simply that the resolution of a DVD is lower, and the mpeg-2 codec is very Old.
You can have a 3 hour movie on a DVD and it will look good if you use a professional decoder (costs a few thousand Euros). This file is only 2 hours, so I would say 1 DVD is fine.
Most 2 GB divx file will look better than a 4 GB mpeg-2 file.
I do not know what software you used to convert it to DVD, but there are thousands of mpeg-2 decoders. Professional ones cost 1000 Euros or more.
I used the old Tmpgenc decoder, at it´s highest settings.

 | Sorry it takes so long...the sound is sometimes really a problem. During the intor of SOS some part of the video is missing, but sound is fine when I delete the silence part...that causes a delay then. Now I start with the sound earlier, so when paul starts to sing it should be in sync again. |

 | @ Hurricane: I went to the Paul Simon page on iTunes & couldn´t find the songs for sale? I just found your post about song streaming before...I had missed it earlier. Are they still streaming? Was it video & audio, or just audio? And most importantly- what songs were they?
If you could provide a link with where to buy there tracks I´d be very grateful. Thanks & Blessings! |

 | I will decode the file again. Cut the beginning 2 minutes and the outro when he introduces the band okay, that saves 5 minutes. And set the sound encoding to 256kb...as no one would ever hear the diffence. All in all this brings 4700 kb instead of 4420 kb video rate per second.
So we have more space for the video. |
