of course, Peter Falk was great in his signature role as Columbo, but he gave a really fine performance as the grandfather in the Princess Bride, which I think is a terrific movie and he was a very nuanced actor, may really terrific performances. so RIP Peter, thanks for all the enjoyment.

Any rumors what was the reason of his death? Beside alzheimer i think he was well, and because the Family wont say anything i feel it was not really natural....his alzheimer was not that bad a few years ago as the media sad.

Too tragically coincidental! I´ve just finished purchasing all the Columbo season box set dvd´s. I never understand when they say in news reports that someone died of alzheimers. My father has alzheimers and dementia, and while it´s a terrible progressive disorder,it´s not specifically a fatal one. Peter Falk suffered an incident a few years ago where he forgot where he parked his car in Los Angeles. It was very sad, though the media thought it amusing....Oh,just one more thing before I go...

Paul should have been a guest as murderer in Columbo as Johnny Cash! Columbo`s wife certainly would have been a fan of him. He could have disguised as child using his stature...

Alzheimers CAN lead to death within a few years, but MUST not. I`ve known a person getting it at 53 and died before he was 60. When you cannot eat and drink anylonger, it is a dangerous situation anyway.

Yes,as I said ´not specifically´ a fatal disorder. If and when eating and drinking becomes threatened, the person should already be in supervised care. Unfortunately, that is not always possible depending on your country´s health care system, which in itself is sickening.
