 | I am very critical to the Israeli government´s way of treating the Palestine issue. In my opinion Simon handled the INTERNATIONAL cultural boycot of South Africa just fine, but there is actually no such INTERNATIONAL boycot of Israel (allthough some groups are asking for it). So I really hope Simon doesn´t feel any pressure from this open letter or other pressure groups. That said, I´ve heard several political statements from Simon, and just as he openly criticized apartheid, I wouldn´t mind if he dares to criticize the Israeli Government´s Palestine politics, as several American jews have done. But there really is no INTERNATIONAL boycot going on, so therefore no reason not to play there. |
