 | Hi guys, like many others on this forum,I have been playing guitar for many years now,but as it´s a continual learning process,I wanted to get other players opinions about what strings they use on their acoustic guitars. Not just brand, but what gauge string you use as well. For many years I have been using phosphor/bronze sets by various manufacturers in the 10-47 gauge, but recently increased that to 11´s in an attempt to increase tone and volume. If it was just a question of strumming first position chords,I´d probably even opt for heavier stings, but they just seem impossible to bend, and make it more difficult when you move out of the first four frets. I am a fingerstyle player,so I always opt for a lighter string anyway to avoid damage to my nails. Over to you folks...

 | I use 0.12 Elixirs since I gave up playing with nails. I would upgrade them to 0.13 but the guitar is perfect now, so I´ll leave it. I´m fingerstyle inclined as well but I have no problems with the higher gauges. | | | Ian

 | Thanks Jeroen, just wondering if you set up your guitar personally,or have it done professionally? As the heavier gauges don´t seem to be a problem for you,I´m assuming you have fast, low action on your guitars. I too have low action, and performed that task myself. I´m wondering if a professional guitar tech might improve it´s playability at all. | | | Jeroen

 | I bought this way but I´d never let professionals ruin its current perfection. And, Indeed, low action and, since it´s a grand auditorium model, still great response. | | | Rosie

 | I use light or medium Martin strings! I wouldn´t stray from them :) | | | |
