Yeah, I read that it in an interview with Mojo too.. He said it might be back in 2012. Mojo´s interview with him is probably the best one I´ve read in years. Apparently he had to leave alot to take pee breaks! ha. Lovely full sized page of a picture of him. If anyone can get the magazine they really should! About 4 pages about Paul.

Bof...it remains to be seen. Paul says lots of things.

Remember, the cast album was supposed to be released in 1998...

Maybe he is right, but add a few years to 2012.

Well, the cast album is on iTunes. It would be great to give it a new try. The Capeman is so underestimated. It still puzzles me why Paul never performs Capeman-songs in his shows. Some songs are incredibly good.

I´m still wondering about "Songs From The Capeman" via the re-issues that are coming out.
Those sessions, those 7 years after "Rhythm Of The Saints" are the richest treasure trove of unreleased Paul Simon material that we know of. Literally more than an album´s, maybe two album´s, worth of songs that we´ve never heard the Paul Simon versions of!!!
The other interest in the re-issue series is "Surprise", which has never been re-issued...one can hope for some new, previously unreleased tracks...but...my bet is that we´ll most likely just get a few live versions of songs, a la the "You´re The One" re-issue from last time.
So far only "Live Rhymin´" has anything different on it than the previous re-issues (with it´s two extra live tracks- "Something So Right" & "Kodachrome")

The reissues do not seem exciting...

They take everything from Warner. Remains to be seen either of not it will come with extensive liner notes.

By the way, in one interview somewhere, Simon said there was a 25-anniversary edition of Graceland coming up this summer. Well, we had the 10-anniversary one + the TV doc, I wonder what they can find more.

I would be surprised for any ´Surprise´ extra tracks...I know there was one song that was thrown away because Eno did not like it, but what ended up on the album is probably the total thing already.

A couple of re-releases say on the HMV UK website that they feature "expanded packaging". Maybe that means liner notes but who knows for sure. I think it´s "Paul Simon" and "There Goes Rhymin´ Simon" that say that.

So far I´ve only got Live Rhymin´ ordered. The others don´t appear to have anything worth buying (again).

mog: I know there was one song that was thrown away because Eno did not like it..

Never heard about that. I can not say if Eno has so much influence on Paul to say: Throw it away...
Paul has become an incredible slow writter in the last 10 years, so I would say: There are zero hidden tracks somewhere... Well, even ALL the re-issued and expanded albums did not have really new songs, a lot of early and accoustic versions...one or 2 with different lyrics.

BTW: I also do not think it will be back in 2012. Thats not even realistic if he would start today to find a new cast. Or - a complete other way - Paul has nothing to do with it and they will try to bring back the version from the Central Park.

I think he should better spend his time on making a new album with Mrs. Simon. :)

Re: song thrown away in Suprise.

Yes, Paul said that in an interview at the time. He felt Eno unease about one of the song, and asked him why. Eno replied: I think it is because I don´t like it. Simon said: well, if you don´t like it, ok, let´s throw it away !

They then began working together on something that would be called ´Outrageous´.

So we lost a song because of Mr. Eno... hm, maybe 500.000 fans would have loved it
