I just got back from the DAR Constitution Hall concert in Washington, DC. It was an amazing show, especially for me because Paul invited me onstage to sing Gumboots with him!
The band started to play the song, and I think Paul was thinking about something else, so he didn´t start singing on cue. Then, he asked us, what is the first line. I yelled out the first line, and he asked me if I wanted to come up and sing it with him! I jumped up on stage and sang the song with him!
Surprisingly, I didn´t feel that nervous, but my leg was shaking a little with excitement. I even whispered that to him during the song. I was a little aware of the crowd, and I soaked in the experience of looking out at the audience at least once, but I was actually more focused on the performance to make it sound as good as I could for Paul and the rest of the people there. The sound was excellent up there and it made the performance quite easy for me. It was so nice to alternate lines with Paul on Gumboots and at one point I believe he harmonized with me. It was an amazing experience and I was so impressed with Paul´s kindness and friendliness. When Paul was introduing the band at the end of the show, his drummer said to him, don´t forget Paul! Paul handed me a bottled water once during my song with him and also at the end of the show after they introduced me. During the song, I told him how much this means to me, etc. Also, I joked with him - are we going to go into Whispering Bells? He said, no, laughing and I said I was joking. The whole experience was so loose and fun, but I think I pulled it off OK. Afterwards, various band members told me they were impressed with how it went. At least three people made videos, so hopefully we will see it soon. What a fantastic night! Thanks for letting me share this amazing experience with you all.

oh, Paul, it couldn´t have happened to a nicer guy!
Wow! Congratulations Paul. What a memory to hold onto. Paul might be going to do this on a semi-regular basis. Inviting an audience member onstage for a song. I´m so envious, but happy for you too:-)

I have seen Livingston Taylor several times and it seems like he has audience members come up every show at some point and sing with him.
Its a little strange somehow since Paul is such a big star, but he keeps talking about how comfortable he is playing smaller halls and clubs, and I guess it is true.
After all these years, as he said on Saturday night Live, he doesn´t want to be Mr Isolation.
Anyway, its great to see this happen for someone who is a big fan of Pauls.
