Okay -- so album sales aren´t what they once were. but still, this album has performed beyond my expectations.

yeah, but you can´t hardly buy Paul´s album anywhere in the brick and mortar world. Its not in Target, not in costco. Too bad these stores won´t take a chance on it, the internet is not the only channel to reach people.

Worldwide album/CD sales dropped from 100 percent in 2000 to about 40 percent today.

YTO sold about a million; SBOSW selling more than 400.000 (certainly) means more success.

Estimated worldwide sales in week 2 were 55.000 and chart position is 14 after 6 in week 1. Without UK etc.! (source "global sales").

I think its a cool album, and he´s got a sold out world wide tour. I hope to be walking when I´m 70! He´s not doing too bad.

You also have to add the lousy packed but nevertheless demanded "deluxe" version with a DVD, (which contains the live title track without any pictures, quite funny...). People who buy this normally will not buy the CD. Except crazy guys like me.

So as a conclusion, SBOSW is certainly not his worst album ever, but also certainly not in his top 3 best appreciated solo albums. I think that conclusion may be drawn yet.

SBOSW - My List (A bit late I know)

This could easily become one of my favourite albums - for me its up there with H&B RTOS and Capeman.

Songs in order of favourite

Rewrite |- Outstanding - this could also be put into a three song "protest type" EP with Wartime Prayers and GRFCD

Dazzing Blue
LIESF -these two have amazing lyrics and fabulous music-only arrangments - always what I´ve loved about Paul Simon songs

Love and blessing (probably will go further up the list love it more each time)

Afterlife
SBOSW
GRFCD - these three are catchy singalong songs great for long drives

QFTA
LIHT - the lyrics of these two are amazing but I find the singing hard to listen to - maybe the words should be just spoken with a melody played in the background (see Leonard cohens song/poem " A thousand Kisses deep"

Not exactly the right thread but I´m too lazy to look for it and don´t want to start a new one

Hear Music should release the title song as a single asap, with a nice videoclip like they did on GRFCD.

I have never understood why they put LIESL as the next single...

Welcome back Paul, at global sales album track charts Nr. 28 with about 34.000 copies sold last week because of the release in the UK/Ireland!

Now that So Beautiful or So What has finally been released in the UK, I can buy it in my local supermarket. It is currently no. 6 in the UK album charts.

Surprise entered at no. 4 and stayed there for two weeks - but we have yet to see if Glastonbury and the rest of the tour helps sales. They mentioned the new album a couple of times on BBC 2 during the coverage.
