 | he was playing a martin guitar on here comes the sun, but it did not have Paul Simon written on the neck in mother of pearl that I could see. Bob Weir was in the audience.Paul Played Proof, he said "since sloppy is the order of the day...", said they had not played it in a long time. Vincent stepped forward a little, expecially in the later part of the show.In that small room, its interesting to see Paul running the show, a few times he stopped the count into a song to say something to the audience. At one point Tony Cedras lost a drumstick, it flew acoss the stage, in fact it was on Obvious Child at the end where averybody it smacking the drums. Paul picked it up and tossed it back to him, but he missed the catch. Tony seemed to be having a good time all night. Great version of Sounds Of Silence, Paul is messing with the melody or register a little and it just sounds fantastic, especially after so many loud, multi instrument numbers. The rave of the evening was probably "That Was Your Mother" which had the floor shaking.

 | It is really great news to read that there are quite a number of changes in the setlists. This differs from the Eurotours in 2000 and 2008 when there were hardly any changes. Who knows what we can expect more.... | | | Forum guest

 | I could not give an accurate setlist. He played Dazzling Blue second. That song comes across, to me, much better in concert than on the album, much warmer. I think I saw Hadad doing the "vocal percussion" part, which I could not see when I went to the Fox. Vietnam/Mother and Child, Gumboots Love is eternal. Vs the Fox, he left out questions for the angels, and played Proof instead, a good choice for the Fillmore. The encores were the same. I thought the sax solo on still crazy was much better at the fillmore, but I was in the third row of people standing, not a seat in the balcony, so its hard to judge.
Only this, if you are able to get a ticket to one of the small room shows, do it! Many people were walking up and down the line trying to get a ticket to get in, not scalpers, and I saw a few of them inside, so if you are persistent I guess its possible.

 | Bodo, no he skipped Love in hard times and also questions. The show was mostly material from the new album, but fewer slow songs. He played rewrite, had the crowd clapping along, that one is great in concert. Obvious Child, this is I think a great version of this song, the best I have seen.
The Fillmore is one of these famous san francisco rock and roll venues, so I think the show is certain to be more uptempo, and anyway I think that is what Paul wants to do now anyway. He played Mystery Train and wheels, the drummer on guitar solo again, just Paul Mark and the drummer playing and hadad on percussion, great stuff.
He had played Questions for the Angels at the Fox the night before, that was amazing, I have not like the song on the album, but live it is much more compelling. The interesting thing is that even though he is favoring these rock and roll numbers and the larger band, he can still completely capture the room, maybe even more, with just his voice and guitar.

 | nope, no afterlife. I was hoping for Love and blessings, my favorite, but he did not play that. The only ones I would have passed on were Slip Sliding Away and Father and Daughter. I heard a lot of people on the way out saying these were their favorites, so everyone has different tastes.
I did think that these were some of the best versions of these songs I have heard, both of them normally put me to sleep, I think they are good, but they are lullabies. Not last night. (well, maybe father and daughter, but really, I guess it is a lullaby, so why shouldn´t it sound like one?) | | | linclink

 | Where did he place "Proof" in the setlist- between which other songs? Any chance of getting a full setlist?

 | sorry linclink, I could not give you an accurate setlist. I think he started with boy in the bubble, then dazzling blue, then 50 ways # 3 for sure, and a great version of it. Another great moment for Paul was when, in Proof, the music stops after the word "Proof" moment pause, and then he sings, some people gonna call you up and tell you.." he just really nailed that part.
If I try to remember the order much further than that I will probably be wrong, I was sort of enjoying the show, and also fighting the effects of the constant cloud of marijuana smoke, the crowd was definately younger than at the fox (although there were plenty of us 50+ers,) and more chemically enhanced as well. | | | Erwin
