Has anyone seen the Children´s TV Carton Show called "Arnold" its a series about an Advark called Arnold and his Friends in Elwood City America. It tells of his problems at home , School and at play , life in general.

In the show they have had some famous people show up as guests at school or just viisting the city. These have included Yo Yo Mann and even Art Garfunkel. Art was a curly haired Stag and has appeared several times on the show as a guest (Art does the voice over as well)

In one Episode Art played a wandering singing entertainer complete with Guitar. I hope some of you guys saw this. If so what did you think?

Funny how they had Art Garfunkel on Arthur and not Paul Simon. Maybe he Mr G was drawn to the show as the lead character is also called Arthur.

You mean ´Arthur´. I sometimes have the show on, but haven´t really noticed they have special guests. Will look out now for Art, wandering singing entertainer with Guitar.
Did Art ever play an instrument? On youtube I read that he played guitar on ´Last night I had the strangest dream´ on Wednesday Morning 3am and Paul played Banjo. But Wikipedia says Art was vocals and Paul vocals/guitar and banjo is uncredited.
Anyone know how to find out the credits for past albums?

Art played the guitar in the beginning but stopped probably because Paul was better. There is a photo that shows Art with a small acoustic parlor guitar.
Paul also played bass when he worked for a record company to record mostly other composers´ songs (search for Jerry Landis on youtube). In the 1970s he learned to play the piano to learn about music/harmony theory and because he had a medical problem with his left hand.
You´ll find credits on the sleeve or the booklet of most albums - but I can´t find any information on the musicians on "Wednesday Morning, 3 Am"

Further to my comments on the children´s TV cartoon show Arthur I caught a rerun today and now discover that is in fact made in Canada so Elwood City is possibly not an American City.

I´ve read that Art can play piano...I read somewhere that he played the piano on "7 ´O Clock News/Silent Night" although I don´t remember where I read it and I have no idea if it´s correct.

Hi Nick,

I work for a television company and we are producing a short film for The One Show about Paul Simon´s visit to Widnes in 1965.

I just wondered if you went to see him perform? Or do you know anyone who might have seen him perform? We would Love to get hold of some memorabilia of that North West tour.
If you can help, please e-mail me at: [email protected]

I´ve been watching Arthur since it first aired on television, and that episode actually introduced me to Art Garfunkel. I remember saying to my mother, "Mom, who´s Art Garfunkel?"

And so began a musical obsession.

On a side note I´m 20 and still watch Arthur. That´s what happens when you grow up only having public television. Plus, it´s a relaxing cartoon to watch.

He studied piano and also played 12 string guitar, the only
videos I know of him pretending to play the guitar are on a
show called "Shiveree" which has Art and Paul on as the guests, one of their first tv appearances. Of course back then
everything was lip sync. I watch it just to see Art´s hair.
