 | Hi
I have a question to all visitors of the site.
What screen resolution do you use on your PC?
This site has been designed for a resolution higher than 1024*768 , and I think a lot of people have problems with the site or?
Scroll down and up all the time...
Can you use a higher resolution on your PC, or do you have a very small screen?
I´ll maybe change the design a little bit and make everything more compact.

 | I think I have a 800*600 and I have a large screen but no problems at all with your site, Bodo.

 | why not taking a higher resolution?
YOu have to scroll around on the page or, and you can´t reach the navigation menu if you are in the forum i guess...
I have to change that :-) |

 | Since the best setting for me is 1024 x 768, I´m always scrolling.
Good exercise, perhaps??
But I would prefer not to have to continually do so.
Otherwise, your site is great!! And I Love this forum. Seems to be full of nice, intelligent people. The lack of trolls is refreshing. |

 | Hm, I didn´t know that so many people have to scroll.
I´m thinking of making 2 versions of the main page, one for 1024 resolution, and this for higher resolutions.
But it´s tricky, the navigation menu will work if the menu items are overlapping the page with the forum/fand-database a.s.o.
Where should I place it?

 | Yes, you´re right : I´m scrolling but it´s really not important (the Proof : I haven´t even noticed that until you talk about it ! :-) )My fingers are used to that now :-) And for the resolution, I will ask my husband why he has chosen this one ! :-)

 | ..I think with a 19" you easely could use a higher resolution or?
Normal is:
15" = 800*600
17" = 1024*768
19" = 1280*1024
I have a 17" flat-screen and use 1280*1024
However, I have changed the design now for lower resolutions.
You should see everything now on 1 screen
(if you use the full-screen) |

 | Yes, with your new settings, there is no longer any scrolling. Bravo!!
Thanks for doing this for those of us with smaller screens (mine is 17" -- but because I´m on many hours a day, I find 1024 x 768 easiest on the eyes, especially later in the day or at night). |

 | I use the 800*600 with my 19" screen because of my daughters and all their PC games that need to be used with that resolution : so, I think I will go on scrolling up and down for a long time ! :-)

Hm...
I could maybe cut away the scrolling pictures of Paul on the side...maybe I´ll try, this will help a little bit :-)
But I thought of installing a short Paul Simon records (real records...higlights, not albums) gallery on the left top...so this wouldn´t be on the screen then...hm

 | for people who are using
Internet Explorer 6 (6 is important)
- and a resolution of 1024*768 pixels.
Does the Navigation Bar on the top work perfect? The menus are OVER the window with the FORUM or?
I ask because this doesn´t work in IE 5, so I always hide the big forum window when someone moves with the mouse over the navigation menu.
I´m testing with IE 5 at home, IE 6 at work. This stupid Microsoft System doesn´t allow to install 2 versions of IE - so here at home I don´t want to uprade to version 6 because I never could test with IE 5 then... ;-) |
