 | Just curious as to what the different opinions are regarding Paul´s film. (Opinions seem to vary wildly on this topic.)
As for myself, it took me forever to even locate a copy of the film. I was finally able to get one, unfortunately only on VHS, but I think it was worth the wait.
I like the film. I had heard so many BAD things about it, I was prepared for the worst when I first viewed it, lol!
The music was great (of course) and the story line seemed to come out of his own life except Paul became a success where as Jonah didn´t.
I think too, that Paul´s acting was not as bad as people said it would be. The only scene that I thought his acting faltered was when he was confronting his wife in the kitchen. She accuses him of thinking only of the opinion of what young girls thought of him, and he comes running back into the kitchen pointing at her with his finger and telling her something about how boring she was or something like that. Well, the way he did it looked so unrealistically funny to me, I had to laugh out loud for a minute. But other than that, I thought his acting was quite good.
Over all, I enjoyed the film. It´s too bad that it didn´t get the promotion from Warner Brothers that it deserved. (Maybe it was due to the naked Mare Winningham scene....hmmmm)lol
Besides, this film is a hell of a lot better than Artie´s Carnal Knowledge that came out at the same exact time!

 | Carnal knowlegde came out in 1971, I think you mean the movie Bad Timing from 1980, this movie is a psychological drama and erotic thriller, Art played the psychiatrist Alex.

The movie Bad Timing was rated with 4 stars and Paul´s movie was rated with 2 stars, IMO Paul´s acting was not bad but not very good either, the music was great. |

| I don´t think OTP ever even came out on DVD. I was lucky enough to find ONE copy at Hollywood Video under the "previously viewed films" section for like $5.99, and that was my first try looking for it.
I actually like this movie. I definitely wouldn´t rank it as one of my favorites but for someone who is a musical artist and writer and not a screenwriter and CERTAINLY not an actor I think it´s good for a first effort. I also thought Paul´s acting was more than passable. The story was one to which I could relate. Well not really, but I mean the feelings the characters experienced. He claims it´s not about his life but I thought it kind of did mirror his life a little, not that I know a lot about his personal life.
I´ve watched it twice all the way through and, to quote Moulin Rouge, "Generally I like it." |

| Oh yeah, the one thing I didn´t like was it seemed he tried to put as many naked women in it as possible, without even stripping down himself. I don´t really regard this as an "artistic" choice but as more of a kind of excuse to just, well, have naked women in the film. But whatever. And the whole sleeping around thing, but of course this "isn´t about his life," LOL, but just meant to reflect music artists in general. At least in real life it seems he respects women a lot so I can´t have many qualms with that. |

Thats really bad what he did there.. I mean normaly these are the youth sins of stars - before they became famous (and later journalist will find out about such things and ask ugly questions) |

About Art, it´s said it was an erotic movie but I really wonder where Ans has found that pic and where it really comes from because this detailed pic on his most private place, added to the original pic, is really strange ! lol ! |
