 | surprisingly, i just got this album this past weekend (a friend bought it for me for my bachelor party). i really Love it. he bought me the new remastered version which has original acoustic demo versions of Train In The Distance (a personal all time favorite), RAGMWTDATW (jeez, could that be any longer), Late Great Johnny Ace and an unreleased song that was lyrically unfinished called Shelter Of Your Arms, but i noticed that he worked some of the lyrics into When Numbers Get Serious.
all of those bonus acoustic tracks make up some of my favorite material that i have ever heard from Paul. they are so beautiful and perfect. that is the way that i like Paul the most, with just him and his guitar. my dream has always been that he would release an entire album with just him and his guitar and minimal production, much like Everthing Put Together Falls Apart off of Paul Simon.
the only negetive thing that i can say about this album is that i wish it would have been written and produced in the 70´s because i feel like the dated 80´s production style kind of steals away from the songs. but this is still one of my favorite albums from Paul. the lyrics are incredible and most of the music is just as incredible.
***** - Five Stars from me.

 | Some of his best songs are on this album, Train In The Distance, Renee and Georgette Magritte, and of course Hearts & Bones, the lyrics of these songs are great, but also a few weak songs, Cars Are Cars, When Numbers Get Serious.
I like the two songs Think Too Much, how he approached the subject.
BTW Paul did an entire album with just him and his guitar, The Songbook from 1965. |

 | You know, every time someone asks me what my top favorite Paul Simon albums are, and I tell them that this ranks #2 on my list, they look at me like I´m insane. Well, I think you can understand why I am not!!!
This is agreat album from start to finish. Even Paul was quoted in latest biography as saying that this was the album that he, in his opinion, really learned how to be a songwriter.
The songs in this album are a lot more complex than that of his other albums, lyrically and musically. It was also a much more personal album due to the fact that most of it was written about his marriage to Carrie Fisher.
It is too bad that the album was not given a lot of attention due to the fact that it was suppose to be a newly reunited Simon and Garfunkel album. I am glad in a lot of ways that it remained a solo Paul album. It will always be one of my favorite albums. |

 | I really like this album. It was actually the first Paul album I bought. I know, odd choice. The only reason I bought it was because I read the lyrics to Song About The Moon and fell in Love with them, so I decided I needed to give it a hear, along with the rest of the album.
My favorite song on it is Train In The Distance. I also like Song About the Moon, Cars Are Cars, the Think too Much songs. When Numbers Get Serious and Allergies are interesting and I enjoy listening to them. Hearts And Bones is very nice lyrically and fine musically too. I don´t care too much for Rene and Georgette Magritte and I don´t like Late Great Johnny Ace except for the music solo at the end, which is haunting and beautiful.
Overall this is probably my second-favorite Paul album after Graceland, although in comparison to his other albums it is a little more boring and conservative, so I don´t reach for it to cheer me up or put me in a certain mood, but I listen to it once in awhile. |

 | My first and all time favourite Paul Simon album - i changed from an S&G fan to solo paul when I got this back in the early eighties. I Love all the songs for different reasons and have brought certain lines into my vocab - like I´d never say I´ve too much to drink but - My brain has taken a seat behind my face. When a problem gets too much - there´s not much more that I can do go home and get some rest.
The album came out just as I was starting my career as an immunologist so Allergies became a theme song for a while. The imagary behind Rene and George is amazing esp when GM is one of my favourite artists. I could go and on about this album - I think it would do Paul no harm to repromote it as it did get lost in the fuss about S&G getting together again.
to find a true PS fan ask the question what is your favourite album and if H&B is not in the top two then no way hose (IMO).

 | Not my favorite at all, a very strange and inconsistent album: there are 2 good songs: "think too much b", "René and Georgette...", 2 very good songs "Late great...", "Train In The Distance" and THE masterpiece, maybe Paul´s most beautiful song "H&B"...and unfortunately some very bad songs "Think too much a", "When numbers get..." "Song About The Moon" and the worst Paul´s song "Cars Are Cars", almost ridiculous...many songs are under Paul´s quality rate... |

 | It´s incredible how Paul has been able in that album to include his best songs (like H&B, a masterpiece !)and his worst ones(Cars Are Cars, my God ! Even the title itself is ridiculous ! Sorry !) |

 | Cars Are Cars is a great song!! Apart from the lively tune the lyrics are spot on describing how the car has taken over our lives its bad enough this side of the atlantic but in USA it would be a lot worse. He knows himself that he is too attached to his cars and kind of mocks himself for it ( see also ROTS album). "Susceptible to theft in the middle of the night "- live where I´ve lived especially when the album came out this was an understatement!!
Sorry as I said before this is my all time fav album and I´d defend any song on it.

 | Hearts And Bones is probably my third favorite at the moment , behind TGRS and You´re The One, because it changes almost after every time I listen to a CD of his outside of my top 3. Think too much b and Hearts and Bones are two of my favorite songs of his and there is no weak song on the album (I even really like Numbers and cars, though Late Great Johnny aCe is probably the weakest IMO). It seems that Paul put more of his emotions and effort into this album than any other he made. |

 | Heart and Bones HAD to have been written in the 80s, Jefferson, as most of the personal material is about events that happened in the 80s.Simon´s worst album commercially, but one of his best content wise.It has become more and more appreciated with time.....but then all the best music takes years to get into your system and stay there.S&G, Paul Simon stuff lasts and is timeless. The songs never sound dated, no matter how often you hear them. That´s the skill and art of Simon´s songwriting.Hearts And Bones will eventually outsell all the other "instant hit" albums by other atrists over the years. It´s the case of the tortoise........ |
