im sorry, i accendentally looked over this album.

there is a lot about this album that i like, but ive never been able to get past the sounds of the crowd. it is too distracting to me. i also thought that there were too many S&G songs on it. i Love hearing Paul sing to just the music of his guitar. it is such an intimate and beautiful sound.

i would say that the highlight of this album, for me, is American Tune. it is so much more beautiful with just him and his guitar, the way that the song should have been. the only bad thing about this track is the awkward applause at the beginning of it from what sounds like only three people. it kind of makes me laugh. did people not know the song? did he ask the crowd not to cheer until the end because they wanted to release it as a single? either way, it sounds funny, but the song, itself, is tremendous and powerful.

Live Rhymin´ track listing:

Me and Julio down by the School Yard
Homeward Bound
American Tune
El Condor Pasa
Duncan
The Boxer
Mother And Child Reunion
The Sound of Silence
Jesus is the Answer
Bridge over troubled Waters
Loves Me Like A Rock
America

I think it´s a great album.
Pauls voice is so fresh and young on this songs...he even played The Boxer in D instead of C.

The beginning of Mother And Child Reunion is also great. I always have to repeat the first seconds, because I like the way the guitar-play starts...and again, Pauls voice.

BOTW sounds very nice. I never knew how to play this song on guitar, until I heared this version.

There are a few things that I don´t like: The mixed sound of the crowd...it just sounds not real. And, for my taste, the guitar on Me And Julio is to "thin". But I like this song anyway.

I like this album, it is quite different from all his others. I sought it out when someone asked me had a ever heard of a gospel album that Paul had produced. All the songs have a religion or spiritual theme running through them. My CD (being an early one) has no details about the songs singers etc so I don´t know who wrote/arranged Jesus is the answer though I kind of recognise it from my evangelical days. As far as I can make Paul does not sing during this song. When I heard this album first I thought that he might have become a Christian. Mikey (welcome back BTW) I think this album should be part of any
discussion re Pauls spirituality.
Is this the earliest recording of The Boxer that includes the verse "the years are rolling by me..."? I Love the use of the pipes in this version.
About the empty sound - I know nothing about sound engineering but maybe live recordings gave that effect then - the DVD at the tower is similar. Also perhaps an attempt was made to get rid of the clapping in some of the songs.
Theres more thoughts but I can´t think of them at the moment ( Phew you all say)

Scaaty, I only have the lp and cannot remember listening to it. But on the lp itself it says that ´Jesus is the answer´ is written by A. Crouch - S. Crouch.
Does he really sing the ´years are rolling by me´ verse? Wow, thought that was only on the CP ´81 concert.

Thanks jos, is paul wearing that awful white suit on the cover of the LP?
Also on this album is an attempt by paul to speak off the cuff with the audience which is cringe inducing - no wonder he never says anything now unrehearsed.
